@Algoflex Read the change log and then you can decide if you want to do a reinstall.

@Algoflex This means that the article text or links have been updated, but not the file or else the file would have a different date/version.

Help is needed. When loading, before the screen with the choice of drive for installation should appear, BSOD 0x7B appears, before that I integrated the SATA patch from Kai-Schtrom and the patch for Nvme. The PC has a SATA SSD WD green installed.

There is also another motherboard on B450 chipset from gigabyte. But I will be able to tell the exact name only on the 13th. The problem there is exactly the same

Are you running your XP setup off of a USB flash drive?

If you are then you'll also need to integrate the backported USB 3.0 drivers too else you'll still get a 0x7B BSOD during setup.

@infuscomus Yes, I'm trying to install from a flash drive. The problem is that I also integrated drivers for usb 3.0, I just didn't write about it, but this driver was also added, but I get 0x7b

      Hi,
the problem 0x7B is your USB install method.

Gotta say, this project's a complete home run. Thanks a ton for all the hard work I know that this took. I realize this forum's hopping lately and I don't want to take up any more time than I have to, but I'd really like to know: is there a way to upgrade to the new version from an old one without reinstallation, and if not, why? I did some searching for a possible duplicate question but the keywords "update" and "upgrade" are pretty popular it seems😅
    • This commment is unpublished.
      Algoflex · 4 months ago
@John Doe Usually the best course of action is complete reinstall, that's what I have read here multiple times :)

      Ramsey · 4 months ago
@John Doe The upgrade option is for upgrading from an older Service Pack to a newer Service Pack.
A reinstallation is always the best option, but for a lazy panda the repair option would be the next best solution. 🐼 But do a backup before running the repair option. ⚠️

@Ramsey Got it. There's just some registered programs I like to add to my install, and I was gonna see if there was a way to preserve them and their registry entries.

Great Job m8! Lookging forward to use it.  Couple+1 questions: (1) Does it include virtio drivers? (2) Does it support iscsi diskless boot drivers so I can setup it on my NAS and diskless boot a window XP (3) do you think that its safe to redirect remote desktop port from the net or will they hack my box?

    Ramsey, Thank You Very Much!

Successfully installed WIN-XP on ASUS-Prime-Z790M-Plus, with i9-13900K, DDR5-192GB (64GB used), NVME (Crucial-T705-2TB), graphics GT-730 (GT730-H4-SL-2GD5, Fanless, 4 x HDMI, PCIe-X1) and later added GTX-980. Installation takes 5 minutes from SATA port (RUFUS-prepared USB-SATA-SSD on other PC), to see desktop, then about 10 minutes for updates/upgrades, next minute I surfed YouTube. In BIOS, all security must be disabled (TPM), CSM must be enabled (CSM will be set to [Disabled] and cannot be configured when using the integrated graphics), ReBAR disabled. And CPU-TURBO-MODE must be DISABLED or very slow startup, about 3 minutes of darkness.

If Windows XP Setup, (after partitioning and formatting new empty SSD or NVME, prepared as MBR not GPT), insisting on installing to D: instead of C: (because SSD was not formatted at startup and Win-XP-Setup on SATA port was assigned as C:), then at this point, just press RESET button (or pull out mains cable) and restart-Win-XP-Setup and you will see C: and D: on proper places(SSDs), then just continue installation. If new SSD is formatted with Windows-10-computer, then Win-XP-Setup can't see it. Don't forget to catch first restart and change boot SSD.

GTX-980-TI is best graphic for XP-32, (GTX-1080-TI for XP-64), drivers must be modded. GTX-960 is latest for XP, with official NVIDIA drivers. For newer graphics, no driver exist, same for AMD. Found Realtek-ALC897-Audio-Driver WDM_R274.zip For Ethernet Argus IT-310-S (adapter USB-A-3.0 with RealTek RTL8153 chip & drivers), or TP-LINK-TG-3468 (with RTL8168B PCIeX1), or TP-Link TL-WN725N (WiFi to USB). For HiFi Music, I suggest Asus-Xonar-U7-MKII, with USB-isolator, but only basic functions work in XP.

(In my older comment_id=10320, Successfully installed WIN-XP on ASRock-Z790-LiveMixer, with i9-14900K...)

@Dreamer Which driver did you use for the 1080 ti on x64? I don't believe even icafe have made one for x64. Unless you manually add entries to it by mimicking the entries in Vista

@capybaraman You're right, I was wrong. Sorry for misinformation.
It should work, with iCafe-Expresso-368.91, but it is not working. I didn't verified, until today.
      (My first Win-XP-64 install, from SATA-AHCI, on new Biostar-H61MHV3, BIOS-2021-05-14, i7-3770, 16GB.)
      Let me explain what happened..
I found pretty page(picture & link bellow) with nice description and on the first look, believed everything I saw.
Now I see it was waste of time, because it is not valid for GTX10xx(tested GTX1080-Ti) on Win-XP-32-64 (only Win-7-8).
Anyway, I tried force install, but all I got is yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager, error "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".
Few months ago I did try to install GTX-1080-Ti on Win-XP-32, but didn't work and I thought, that it is probably for Win-XP-64.

@Dreamer Ramsey, maybe will be better if you remove GTX-1080-Ti from my comments, to avoid more mess...

@Ramsey I tried edit my comment, but then when I press POST, I get red message "You don't have permission to edit a comment"..? Are there any time-limits?
Please just strike over "(GTX-1080-TI for XP-64)".

Will this run on an Intel Core i7-13700K Unlocked and AMD Radeon RX580?

@Kevin i7 yes, RX no, GTX-980-TI is best graphic for XP-32 and AMD-Ryzen-9-7950X3D works too.

Please put the cherry on the Sundae and restore the sweet dignified startup screen to the pre-SP2 look with "Professional" and the "1985-2001".
I may crack the files and upload them here.
Please also bake in the copy of Bliss that has been extended to 16:9 with more parts of the field showing. Maybe the far left and right parts of the field was AI created.

@Ramsey I think you forgot to update Mypal(?).

@n Not really. People reported more problems/crashes with the 68.14.1b/2b versions than with the 68.13.7b version. And I didn't want to hold back WinXP-IE for another month.

      @Ramsey
Yepp, for me is the Mypal 68.13.7b browser also the most stable version,
      also more stable than Thorium
