(#) How to do a fresh Windows 10 installation:

1. Burn the Windows 10 ISO file on a DVD disc by using a Brun program like CDBurnerXP (http://cdburnerxp.se) or use Rufus (http://rufus.ie) to create a bootable USB Flash Drive with the Windows 10 ISO file.
2. Do a BACKUP of your important files on a separate Drive.
3. To avoid accidentally creating a Windows 10 Online Account or running into the Account bug (Other user), disconnect your Computer from the Internet before you install.
4. At the Windows 10 Setup menu select "Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)".
5. Delete all the old Windows Partitions and then click on install (Be very careful to select the correct hard disk drive).

Oh look, a version of Win10 that might be worth using. I have had nothing but issues with Win10 everything is updates, it seems to reset things to some stupid defaults MS thinks are spiffy or something... no asshats I like setting up my system the way I like.

Why I refuse to pay for Win10.

@Yammer Yammer, same question I posed to Whitemus, if you please.

@LoneBrowncoat My first try at installing won't start from usb, so I am re-downloading the ISO now, seems it somehow got corrupted? Weird owning I did it via BitTorrent, but I'll up once I can get to install.

@Yammer Try to use Rufus to make a Windows 10 USB Installation.
I installed this Win10 on 2 PC's this week over USB and one was even an old EeePC.

@Yammer Ramsey's iso is small enough to do the old fashioned way, just burn a DVD!

      Ramsey · 5 years ago
@LoneBrowncoat Both of the ISO files can be burned on a normal DVD.

Would you ever work on a Windows 7 Integral Edition? I'm tempted to try this Windows 10 but there's so much bloatware and forced updates it's annoying.
    • This commment is unpublished.
      Ramsey · 5 years ago
@Orange Peel Windows 10 is the future and Windows 7 will reach the end of life support in 2020 only one year later than Windows XP. :D
And i don't see any bloatware on my Win10 and updates can be turned of with the metered option. ;)

@Ramsey Thanks for fast reply! I havent' heard of metered option before, will check that out.

@Ramsey Explain the metered option, I might know it by another term.
    • This commment is unpublished.
      Ramsey · 5 years ago
@LoneBrowncoat The metered option means it will not update Windows or Apps over a Wireless connection. You can also set a few more update options like "Semi-Annual Channel" and "Featured update delay until 365 days" or you can completely manually turn off the Auto Update Service.

@Ramsey OK, it will be very interesting next year when I start to migrate, especially any activators out there, I heard WAT/RemoveWAT no longer
      works as far as W10 is concerned. Though some over at sevenforums.com and MSFN plan to stick with W7 come hell or high water. Though this all stems by M$ constant changing of the U.I. and refusal to just improve/harden the current products. I'm going to miss the U.I. I've used since 2000 Pro. {using a sevenforum's member version of the old "Maple" 2000/XP Pro theme, not possible under W10}

@LoneBrowncoat The activator i posted is the best one out there i'm also using it myself.
You can also try out Win10 by installing VirtualBox.

Is there a windows 10 enterprise ltsb option?
    • This commment is unpublished.
      Ramsey · 5 years ago
@bobo No because the LTSB is a always a few versions behind.

A friend suggested to me maybe removing things from it like IE and the secondary built in microsoft browser too dont know if this is actually posible but I would figure there would have to be away to do it lol maybe removing the inbuilt antivirus too as it is quite resource hungry is my understanding lol

I'd like to say Ramsey welcome back! And thank you for providing XPBE for all those years... I can't wait to see what you've done in this version.

Linux is okay in many ways for older systems but honestly, sometimes I have trouble with it than Windows anything.

A Win98SE for retro gaming would be awesome for an lappy I have, it installed but wouldn't boot. Maybe it's because of the gigs of installed ram? I guess I'll lower the ram and try again.

      Ramsey · 5 years ago
@Yammer You can use a Virtual Machine like VirtualBox to run any Operating System on your Desktop.

@Yammer look into win98se2me, maybe it can work for you.

@bobo Thank you for the tip but... I know about that project ;)

MSFN is pretty next if you are into retro anything OS wise.

@Ramsey Thanks Ramsey but I want to want run Win98 (with like the mods bobo said I should look into above) on the machine itself just because!

I was able to get the system to boot by lowing the installed RAM to 512, then I'll install the unofficial service packs, whatever mods I want then two gigs of ram won't be an issue.

@Jacko 4 what purpose? 2 torture yourself? LOL!! Windows 8, 10, etc. = absolute garbage. Don't waste your time. XP is 'lord'. It's a flawed god, but INFINITELY superior 2 the other alternatives out there. Nothing is perfect! =) There's a reason it still runs about 30% of the computers out there = people who need 2 do actual work, not just dik around HAHA

@Ramsey Everything after XP is absolute krap, & 7, though 'usable' in some ways, is very crippled (most of the utilities I like won't run on it, etc.) 8 & 10 & stuff R a sick, evil joke 2 turn it into the most absurd chaotic mess in the history of the universe, right up there with early Mac OSes =)). If U want 2 do something very helpful, add 'vertical sync' to the XP desktop (so netflix video will not 'tear' =), & add 'APO' (Audio Processor Object) support to XP as well. There are several other things that would help too, but those are the major things 'missing' =) Support for more recent versions of DirectX would also B nice, etc. Mail me at 'balkanXguy aXt liXve dXot coXm' for more if curious (no 'X' characters, etc. = $pam filter). Where can I download your 'fancy' version of Windows 7? I'm curious if you fixed some of it's biggest problems or not =D I could list them, but really the thing to do is mod XP. 7 won't even boot form Fat32, so it's useless from the start (NTFS is totally unreliable, slow trash by comparison).
