& note even that is not (yet) 'perfect' = it really would B a lot better still if the left pane followed the tab = like 'contained' it rather than just 'jumping around' = kind of like browsing web pages = each tab representing a 'snap shot' of BOTH the left AND right pane, not just hopping 2 the 'right pane location' & then the left pane trying 2 'catch up' by 'hopping' 2 the folder.  The reason it would help is the visual layout would stay more consistent when clicking between different tabs, instead of the eyes of the user having 2 constantly 're-acquire' the location of the 'left pane highlighted item', blabla. . .

@Dood McMan You should try Linux Mint. And if I'm not wrong then "Total Commander" is still the best file manager, and it works on all Windows versions.

The only difference is that you use your right mouse button and that you dont start from an area of the screen that dos'nt fall on an actual file. You start to drag from any one of the files to be selected and then add to it. TC keeps the file selection active unless you either drag accross it again or use keyboard selection via +-enter buttons on keypad or similar.

New users may want to Read their instructions carefully.

Both are made by programmers online, so microsoft or no body vouches for security.
