    can i install it in any hardware?
    • This commment is unpublished.
      Ramsey · 6 years ago
      @lolo Yes and No it depends on your Computer. If you have an old computer with less then 3GB of RAM and a IDE Controller then it should work. But if you have a computer with over 3GB of RAM and a SATA Controller then you should definitely better use Windows 10 64-bit.
      But you can also use a Virtual Machine like VirtualBox then you can run Windows XP inside of your installed Windows 7/8.1/10.

      @Ramsey I'm confused. My current XP is running on a SATA drive. Doesn't that mean I have a SATA controller?

      Ramsey · 6 years ago
      @TheRedZone Normally yes. But you can also check this in the Device Menager.

      @Ramsey Thanks, Ramsey. I've never had to check that before.

      @TheRedZone You can run XP on SATA you just need the drivers. Problem was you would need them either baked into the OEM folder of the install or you would need them loaded onto a floppy. I had an old MSI K7N2 Delta 2 Platinum board and it has SATA ports, which I used. I also needed to supply the drivers for the SATA controller with a floppy at boot time, or customize the Windows install image to include them. You'd think they would have allowed it to be supplied from a USB or swapping the CD for a few seconds but no, "everyone has a floppy drive lul" typical MS. Anyways.

      @TheRedZone (since I can't edit my comments, this is a follow-up)
      These drivers were called "Text-Mode Drivers" or "F6 Floppy Drivers". You can see how to integrate them into your install USB / CD here: https://www.prime-expert.com/articles/b02/installing-windows-xp-with-f6-ahci-raid-drivers-from-usb-only/

    Forgot to add also the ability to edit a post for typo errors and our old web picture characters are missing too or can they be reuploaded! Or did I miss those features?

      @datauser The option for editing its own posts for a period of time is on the to do list. But what do you mean with "web picture characters"? I did now also added the module "Monthly Top 5 Posters". ;)

    Ramsey, I was doing some investigating on the other versions of windows xp... do you know anything about a distro called LastXP V.23? I tried to find it and all it took me to was a virus infected site... there used to be a website that offered all sorts of ISO files and multiple releases of XP.... are those all gone now? Or do you know?
