@Ramsey Not like that, I love Windows XP, and I tried to download it from a lot of websites, it actually works on a VM, but if I tried to install it on my pc, it says "error", or it doesn't work, I tried to boot it from USB and CD, I hope this one actually works.

Ramsey, I was doing some investigating on the other versions of windows xp... do you know anything about a distro called LastXP V.23? I tried to find it and all it took me to was a virus infected site... there used to be a website that offered all sorts of ISO files and multiple releases of XP.... are those all gone now? Or do you know

@Mahmoud The main point i started doing this Windows'es is because i couldn't find any up-to-date Windows that was made without problems or crapware. Most of this stuff is done by people who don't know what they are doing.

Hi, I downloaded this ISO en started installing it on my pc. Everything went fine, until "decompressing DMP180.421.7z" stayed at 17,24% and the disc and HDD activity stopped completely after a few minutes. Tried it again, and again the same problem. Is there a workaround for this?

I want to thank you for all the work and documenting you did!

@Jannuk This could be that a file on the CD/Disc is corrupted or a part of the hard disk drive has a write problem.

I just found out about this today after one of my depressive episodes about how bleak the future of computing will be without any decent versions of Windows. This discovery has snapped me out of it. If I knew where to find you, I would never stop sucking your dick. Just two questions: First, I've heard of shims that would allow Windows Vista/7/8/10 software to run on XP; have you considered adding one to this package? Second, have you considered making a Windows XP x64 Integral Edition or Server 2003 Integral Edition that would include NTVDMx64, WIN3MU, or a similar emulator for running 16-bit Windows programs on a 64-bit OS? It would be awesome to have a single Windows version that could run all Windows programs past, present, and future.

      Ramsey · 5 years ago
@Katie Boundary Windows XP 64-bit has only updates till April 2014 and it's also not so easy to find drivers for it.
Windows XP = For old computer with less then 3.5 GB of RAM and Windows 10 is for computers with more then 3.5 GB of RAM.
I also only try include the essential stuff and leave it up to the user what they want to install on their PC. ;)

Katie Boundary · 5 years ago
@Ramsey Windows XP was the last good version of Windows ever made, and is for all computers unless they use LGA 1150, LGA 1151, or Socket AM4 (and even on those, it'll usually work). Drivers for x64 Edition aren't any harder to find than drivers for 32-bit XP.

Windows 7 = the least shitty version of Windows that officially works with LGA 1150, LGA 1151, and Socket AM4

      Windows 10 = shit

You've already included a bunch of non-essential stuff like Basilisk and Potplayer. I'd expect compatibility layers to be a slightly higher priority than those, especially given that it's a lot harder for the average user to install such fixes than it is to install the browser or media player of their choice (New Moon and VLC, in my case). Of course, if your objection is that you only want to include stable packages from reputable companies, and not some hacked-together mystery meat from guys calling themselves things like "skulltrail" and "LeetHaxx0r69", then that's a lot more understandable :D

@Ramsey I've ran WinXP on laptop systems with only 128mb SD ram and encountered no problems. The only drawback is installing programs which require lots of ram to function. Most of my older laptops functioned fine with 192mb, but 256 mb is optimum I found.

@Katie Boundary The first problem we would have is that their is no 64-bit SATA driver pack for Windows XP and that the updates for it stopped over 4 years ago.
And Basilisk is based on Firefox 52 ESR and NewMoon is based on Firefox 24 ESR.
PotPlayer has also a lot more options than VLC like hardware TV support and Screen and Webcam recording and madVR filter support and a lot more.
If you don't want to use Windows 10 for newer PC's then you should check out POP_OS (Linux). ;)

      Ramsey · 5 years ago
@Pensioner An option is also to use RAM disk to get more then 4 GB of RAM on Windows XP 32-bit.
The included "ImDisk Toolkit" can also create a RAM disk on any storage device. :)

@Ramsey "The first problem we would have is that their is no 64-bit SATA driver pack for Windows XP"

My copy of 64-bit XP is running on a SATA hard drive with no extra steps taken other than disabling AHCI mode in the BIOS.

"Basilisk is based on Firefox 52 ESR and NewMoon is based on Firefox 24 ESR."

But only New Moon / Mypal works with the Cookie Masters addon. Basilisk has no equivalent that I'm aware of.

"you should check out POP_OS (Linux)"

I have Mint 19 on my desktop and Lubuntu 18.10 on my laptop. They're great for dicking around but are not substitutes for Windows.

@Jacko "Why ever did MS decide to pull the plug on it"

Because the biggest competitor to each new version of Windows... is the previous, much better version of Windows :) Microsoft has to kill XP in order to force people to buy Win7/8/10

Hey Ramsey, i'm trying to install XPIE on my desktop, everything goes well until the options selector, when it gets there i get an script error saying 'cdt' is undefined and it doesn't let me go through to install the additional stuff.

@Hekta same thing with the flashdrive but i managed to fix it. Turns out that internet explorer wasnt being installed during the setup for some reason, hence why it wasnt recognizing the script correctly, so i finished the windows setup and installed it by the 'install additional components' option and then ran the batch for the XPIE setup again

    Hi,
I have a question which I can't find an answer on the web.
I would like to slipstream a language pack in the ISO, as my native language is not English, where can I find a guide for this issue? Or perhaps someone could help me?
    Much thanks in advance.

@Mox There is no easy way of doing this. Excerpt by using the "WinXP-IE Options Selector" with a Unattended install command, if the executable Language Pack file is supporting this.

@Ramsey Could I use nLite to implement a langpack or is it only supported by the 64 bit version?

@Mox No nLite doesn't support this.

@Ramsey Oh ok, change of topic.
How do I make a product key already written at the moment of installation, so if I lose it it will always be there?
Is there any way to erase the WPA from the installation files (ISO), thus I don't have to worry for activation?
      Then I'm done nagging you.

@Mox You can change the default CD-Key in the file "WINNT.SIF" located in the ISO/Disc directory "..\I386".

@Ramsey Sorry but I can't seem to find the file "WINNT.SIF". There is only WINNT.EXE.
