I've just downloaded Windows XP Integral Edition for Patch Integrator, so I could integrate only Microsoft USB, Microsoft NVMe and Microsoft SATA drivers into my Windows XP copy (that ships with Japanese language), but as soon I try to boot up from my USB stick and load setup, Windows XP complains about a corrupted .SIF file. Strange thing is that if I use Patch Integrator with a English version (or any other western language), it doesn't corrupt any file. I've also tried to integrate Patch Integrator's drivers using nLite for my XP copy, but only Microsof USB one works, others fail and so setup complains with error 0x0000007b (inaccessible drive) 😩 Do you know how to patch Patch Integrator for it to work on Windows XP with eastern languages? Could you please help me with this?

    I've used options 2, 3, A, B and G.

I've also tried to integrate the Patch Integrator's drivers using nLite for my XP copy, I did check on both drivers requirements, such as: Kernel Mode Framework, ntoskrnl8 and storport (7) for Microsoft USB; ntoskrnl8 and storport (7) for Microsoft NVMe and so on. I've created 3 folders, one for each drivers, and placed these required files alongside them before integrating with nLite. Even so it didn't work and setup failed detecting hard drive, generating error 0x0000007b.

      Hi,
I think, that the txt Translations tool, that ramsey now uses, I think for Unicode UTF-16,
has problems with the Japanese letters.
      You can try the following:
Take your original Japanese xp.iso and let the Patch Integrator work on it.
And after this, you compare all changes from your original Japanese xp.iso.
Via Nlite, you do all this changes by hand for your original Japanese xp.iso.

In the beginning, you can test this methode with an original English xp.iso.

      For me this works

@flamel Like Dietmar said the .SIF file problem could a language conflict with the file editing tool. But the tool should support all text file encodings. 🤔
Upload you ISO file so i can check what exactly the problem is. After that i have to see how to fix it.

@Dietmar Hi Dietmar, thank you for replying!

I'll see what I can do, didn't know I could use nLite for this... thought it required hand editing .SIF file through Notepad. But my question is, which nLite section I need to use for this? Remove Components, Unattended, Options or Tweaks? I never used nLite beyond bootable ISO creation or update integration, so I'm a completely noob on this...

Anyway, thank you for helping me!

      Hi,
only install Sata driver and acpi.sys. And for this you can use the Ramsey Integrator with your Japan xp.iso. Check, what has changed. This you can do then by hand also and better.
On which compi should this XP run? Because the reason for Bsod 0x7B can also depend on which compi you want to install.
I will check for myself, if all can be get to work there

      Hi,
this Japan XP is version SP2.
Do you have a key for me?
You can send the key to

      dietmar.stoelting@t-online.de

      I will try.
I can upload then for you the install ready Japan XP.
So, first of all you need to install via Nlite the japanese package for XP SP3 on this.
The Hive and SIF files are all in English, so I think then it will work

    • This commment is unpublished.
      ForgotMyOldAlias · 9 months ago
@Bladerunner It could be that the compiler flagged it as incompatible with XP.
MS VisualStudio does this by default ever since they wanted people to upgrade.

You can test to change the Executeable PE header with a tool like CFF Explorer. (https://ntcore.com/?page_id=388)
It installs as a Right-Click utility and you can use it to get info on code-files. (And perform Edits+Saves)

Using the utility you navigate: Nt headers -> Optional Headers -> MajorsubsystemVersion
and change version 6 to version 5 (or lower).
There's also utilities that do this for you, like MakeXP-x86, but I couldn't find any link right now.

Some older programs you can get to work using this method but newer software usually complains about kernel32.dll not supporting whatever it is they want it to do.

@ForgotMyOldAlias Thank you for your response. One of the programs that will not work is wingridds 6.0 file weather gribs software and I already talked to the author he said it should work with any OS win xp upwards. Sometimes I get with a few others Ill have to recollect which ones. Thank you for the responses and I will try out the testing of the PE executable PE header and Nt headers and makeZP 86 etc.

I don't get the "valid 32 bit application error" which normally means not compatible with Windows XP. But i got this error below.
I think the author of this program did not take into account that their are POSReady 2009 Updates for Windows XP. And it looks like this programs makes some system changes or doing some file version checks that are not compatible with the POSReady 2009 updates.
WINGTIDDS setup ended prematurely because of an error.
You system has not been modified. To install this program at a later time, please run the installation again.

@Bladerunner I had a look at it and noticed (just like Ramsey did) the MSI installer isn't XP-compatible. So changing the PE-header won't help you in this case.

I extracted all files with 7-zip but since that doesn't place the files where they're supposed to be, and in some cases got the name wrong, I had to use Procmon and trial & error to do some tests. (Required moving 3 files into USER subfolder just to get it to start.)

In summary it may work - if the files were properly named/placed but I can't be sure.

The recent version of Visual studio (2017-2019) may have compiled it to require some system DLL files I don't have, or some other things confused it. I never got it to load up the initial graphics.

Your best bet would be if the developer made a zip with everything in proper order, you could just unpack and click. It didn't look like it had any exotic requirements registering DLL-files or regkeys, from my quick glance.

      @Ramsey @ForgotMyOldAlias  @Bladerunner
To start WINGRIDDS v6.0 in XP-IE without encountering errors, you need to extract the .msi package with "MSI Unpacker v1.4.1" that can be downloaded from the mega.nz found here: https://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=23123).
7zip does not work properly because it wrongly extracts the files into a single folder instead of splitting them into the appropriate folders as MSI Unpacker does.
Here is an image of WINGRIDDS v6.0 just launched:
      https://ibb.co/L8XZTFH

I have not looked further into using WINGRIDDS v6.0 but at least it starts without problems.

I tried to install this on my X1 Yoga Gen 2 with 512GB NVMe SSD. I got bsod when I choose default ACPI (7777), so I replace it with version 6666. I was successfully install the first step, then the second step it stuck at "installing devices". PAE was set at 4GB with Microsoft NVMe driver. I was install it using a USB flashdrive with winsetupfromusb. Is this just my device being too new? Or because I was using NVMe SSD?

      Yes,

@Grissa On a computer with DDR2 you should install Windows XP or Linux Mint.

Oh one more thing, it seems that the recovery console is not working as it should. It just redirects me to cmd instead of fixing the problem and repairing the installation.

      Ramsey · 9 months ago
@winxpuser The Recovery Console is a CMD window where you tip-in commands like "/fixboot" and "/fixmbr".
The Repair option will show up if you continue by pressing "Enter" and then "F8".

@Dietmar whats different mypal and basilisk? whose use newer engine?

      Vannura · 9 months ago
@Sunsun Mypal68 is a backported Gecko 68 with some newer implementations (like Seamonkey), and Basilisk is based on Goanna. On my opinion the only bad thing on Mypal68 is the BSOD crashes, but on the recent versions the focus is now on fixing these crashes.

Are there backported Intel Wifi Drivers as I cant install the Win 7 one on my AC 7260 card

      @ccr
There are no backported Intel Wifi drivers in WinXP-IE.
And the AC7260 WiFi card also never had any Windows XP drivers.
