Hi - Thank you for this.  This is a beautiful project.  Last week I removed Windows XP from my stone age machine - an  IBM ThinkCentre MT-M 8171-VP7 - and I've been experimenting with Linux and BSD. I even thought about trying Ecomstation (!) and that led me back to XP.  I do use Linux on a flash drive (Knoppix) but I'm happy to have XP back on the hard drive.  Everything works!

@Alvjos Was this manufactured in 2022? Windows XP dates from 2001. Mr Ramsey and friends do their best to make XP compatible with as many machines as possible. Your issue will be that device drivers are not made for older Windows versions.

I tested ryzen B450 mobo with 128GB of RAM.  With PAE patcher set to 128GB, WinXP would not boot.  Changing max PAE to 64GB worked ok.  WinXP64 and Win7x64 was able to boot no problem with 128GB.

If other people can confirm same issue with Intel or other AMD chipsets then it seems we hit limit of windows NT5.1 at 64GB.  If so, changing PAE patch max to 64GB might be a good idea

First things first: Ramsey, Dietmar, MovAX, 0xDEAD et al: i am deeply IN AWE of  what you achieved here. All your efforts, your passion, dedication and enthusiasm...
    So many Thanks for that!
After learnig of knowing how, the whole process took just half an hour to get Win-XP running on a Gigabyte Z170M-D3H. Brilliant!
Well, more or less running: Realtek Audio driver R2.74 works fine; Intel internal HD830 and Intel GbE(10/100/1000) LAN not working though.
Intel-HD was expected for sure, the latter somewhat annoying, any suggestions for a proper Intel LAN driver?

    2 questions today:
    1) Staying very comfortable on IvyBridge Z77E for the moment, i was planning this Z170 attempt rather for curiosity and to ivestigate the possibilties for the farer future.
Is there a thread which lists up and discusses successful XP installations on post Ivy HW, their specialities, constraints etc?
Or could i presume that 99 % of those boards WILL work (for sure with some restrictions, see above)?
[here for instance what i found lately: XP running (VERY fast) on an ASUS Z690
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuhTujr6zgI - not that antique, is it ;)]

    2) Is it also possible to use my own XP-Pro-32-sp3 ISO as a base  for pimping it up with the patch-integrator (options-menu.cmd)?
Or is the icluded XP-IE-ISO prepared specially to receive those injections?
    Many thanks...

I noticed that for the "wdfldr.sys" file contained in the "Kernel-Mode Driver Framework 1.11" folder the modification mentioned in step 7. (F6 78 1B F6 to F6 EB 1B F6) of the guide posted on Github
    https://github.com/MovAX0xDEAD/NTOSKRNL_Emu
    was not applied.
Is there a reason or was it just an oversight?

Hi Ramsey, thanks a lot for your work! With Dietmar bringing most fixes to xp x64, will you ever make a x64 iso? if you were interested in it you would probably have made one already back in ~2008, but asking doesn't hurt.

Ramsey, upon downloading and unzipping this OS, the computer came back with serveral errors of "Path too Long" you may need to go back and make sure you are keeping the files in the root directory for the ISO... if the zip program is reporting failed files, then the OS won't properly work. I'm having issues with this OS on a Compaq Presario SR-1200-NX system and it keeps crashing or failing to find certain files when installing...

      Ramsey · 2 months ago
@babybearjs Extract it to the C:\ directory or only extract the ISO file from the ZIP-Archive.

      Hi,
I also miss Outlook Express a LOT,
would be soso nice to have it in Ramseys xp.iso
      Dietmar

PS: Not possible to install it afterwards because it needs Internet Explorer 6 first.
