HAHA iWent on the 'Nobara' / Eggroll Discord & was almost immediately banned, simply 4 giving them helpful suggestions & stuff = amazing! =)) Whether he is hiding behind 'shell accounts' or not, the fact he would 'allow' such absurd 'mods' or (unwritten) 'policy' proves 'Nobara' is just another typical 'machine gun nest against users' routine, where the 'developers' & 'elites' can sit back & laugh sadistically with a 'Werx 4 MEEE!' chant =)) In interviews he $ez he only cares about making it 4 him & his dad 2 play games (no mention of expanding 2 a wider market like even 2 $upport it, though he makes over $1,000 a month just on Patreon donations =)) N E waze, y'all may find this interesting = similar stuff 2 wat iPost here, but Mr. Ram-Z isn't a left-tard (ONLY) Black (CRINMINAL) Lives Matter 'This Is An (((LGBT Safe Space)))' routine (which iDid not 'offend' either =)) That fat gook clown is just fishing 4 excuses 2 betray his users = OMG! =)) Terms Of Chat ~>

iAm looking 4 a little software tool or 'mod file' or something 2 enable 'desktop sync' 2 avoid horizontal video tearing when watching web browser video in Windows XP  Other than that iThink XP is overall the best operating system 4 general 'consumer computing' (also runs most of the ATM machines on Earth, etc. = very 'secure' & 'well supported' but people are tricked into constant 'upgrades' =)) There R many ways 2 fix the 'desktop sync' issue & iCan provide links 2 the 'technology' involved but I'm not a 'programmer guy' so it's outside my 'abilities' 4 now. I'm happy 2 pay if necessary, so please spread the word! Can reach me at 'balkanguy (at) live (dot) com' There R lots of other relatively simple mods I want 2 get 4 Windows & Firefox & a few other programs & can work something out on those 2 maybe down the road. The program 'MPC-HC' (Media Player Classic Home Cinema) is based on my ideas 4 instance. iFound the original programmer 2 create it long ago, etc. Since then it went through various 'handlers' & now mainly 'Mr. Clsid' ~> https://codecpack.co/download/Media_Player_Classic.html
    ---
(responding 2 guy with username 'Windows 11' = 'Eggroll' himself? LOL Says 'stop pinging me' shortly B 4 iWas 'Insta-Banned' LOL) . . .
Windows XP is so infinitely superior 2 N E thing after it's comical. Even 7 is a wreck, like forcing auto-sorting of file folders by alphabet so zip expansions & file moves end up mixed in & scattered, & full row select sabotage 2 make it even more useless, & classic Windows 95 type themes disable desktop sync so web video tears, etc. With 'desktop sync' there's really no need to ever switch away from XP 4 general purpose stuff. If U R a 'gamer' maybe U 'need' Windows 10 or something, but that's just 4 the artificially locked 'latest greatest' DX or something. Ideally everything should be rolled back & expanded like a pre internet explorer Windows '95 but with 'driver & kernel module expansion' & more 'SXS' side by site type thngs so can run 'modern' software =) The older & more 'obsolete' U go, the faster & less resource hungry U get =D With XP 4 instance U only need about 5 things running 4 typical systems ~>
    1) DHCP Client = internet
    2) Event Log = just 2 avoid 'shut down hanging' (bug)
    3) Plug And Play = Audio
    4) Windows Audio = as above
    5) Remote Procedure Call (RPC) = runs 'everything' (pretty much =)
& just turn everything else off ~>
    http://p-nand-q.com/download/pserv_cpl/pserv2_x.html
= The old version is the best = typical LOL =))
    ---
BTW: 1 thing 'good' about #CrippleWare like Windows HATE (8) on up is they R such a mess that people thinking they need 'latest greatest' hardware 'upgrades' end up 'dumping' their 'old obsolte' (but way awesome) computers cheap or free, like a big pile of nice 'office machines' iGot from Craigslist free recently because they didn't even want 2 bother listing the CPU specs & stuff 4 each of the models in the stacks LOL Currently 4 myself & 'digital media workstation rentals' iHave 12 Dell T5810 iGot off Craigslist for $100 total, all running XP. For fancy video editing 4 instance it's funny as 'Reaper' (the 'audio' editor) is actually the best, when linked with VLC 4 the 'translation layer' or whatever = very quick & intuitive, etc., totally unlike the 'bloatware' elsewhere = FUN FUN! =D XP also lets U use 'old (but awesome) junk' interface hardware U can find cheap on Fleabay ~;D
    ---
(replying 2 some clown saying 'ain't nobody gonna read all that' blabla) . . .
U R just trolling, fishing 4 a fight. Nobody is forcing U 2 read. Maybe U would B happier watching some music videos =) ~>

All anybody really wants is a 'compatibility layer' 2 usethe SOFTWARE they like. It has nothing at all to do with 'operating system' or 'brands', other than Apple, which is a '$tatus $ymbol' & 'political' type statement. If 'Nobara' can simply 'run whatever' without 'issues' through whatever 'compatibility layers' people would never need anything else. Maybe do a version on BSD so can $ell it? =D Or could link 'modules' through a paid 'installer' program, so no issues with conflicting 'licenses' combining BSD with 'GPL' bits = call it '#NerdBomb' OS, or maybe '#HotRocket' or something. iHav a lot of iDiaz =D Like 'Nerd Bomb with the Gina desktop' = my fave girlfriend was a big black stripper (& accountant) from Detroit = called me 'hot geek' & 'short legs' (she had very long legs) = kinda' like this A.I' thing, & face like Brandy Norwood ~> https://justpaste.it/cx3kf

WoW iEven have over 2,300 characters left! =;-o Mr. Ram-Z, U R truly #Tha$hit =) Lettuce all B thankful there R mor (tho' not completely) solution-oriented people in the world than this 'Egghead' guy =)) BSD + KDE Proton + 'Eggroll Mods' awaits! (??) =D Or iCan continue running XP with other garbage like 7 & 10 in VirtualBox 64 bit VMs LOL HOO NOZE! =8^D With a B$D variant tho U can $ell it, & the 'installer module' 4 the GPL bits (as mentioned above). R U also a 'Linux/BSD' expert Mr. Z? U know N E maybe up 4 the iDia? i$hood pozt $um PayJez Onnet =;-o

Simple Question · 21 days ago
I have a question. If I build a brand new computer with a new i7 or i9 CPU and 32GB of ram, can Windows XP...even with the mem limit patch and server 2k3 memory management; can Windows XP....based on Windows 2000 which was released to RTM in 1999.....can XP take full advantage of the speed and power of a modern CPU and fast RAM of today?
I get that maybe Server 2003 x64 might bring that it's kernal is apparently the genesis of Vista/7, but I'm talking about the heart of XP x86 being able to use ALL of today's hardware.

Ram-Z is lying 2 U.  32 bit XP takes MORE advantage of 'latest greatest' hardware, because it is so much less bloated by comparison =)  Also 32 bit is inherently faster than 64 = less overhead, etc.  Comparing Windows XP to both 32 & 64 bit versions of Windows 7 4 instance the 64 bit 7 is the slowest (& can clearly tell when playing HD youtube videos, etc.) all with same hardware & browser, etc.  I do not 'think'.  iKNOW =)  iTEST these things, & it's Y iStill use 'Window $ex Pee' even 2day, & also the rants about 'security' R a $cam 2 trick people into WA$TING $$$ on 'newer latest greatest' krap that's more expensive & much worse.  Almost all ATM machines on Earth R running on XP, & it's very 'secure' & all that especially when U strip it down.  U only need 5 processes running 4 most things, & of course always switch off trash like 'firewall' & 'server/workstation' & so on = the very existence of 'firewall' requires U open other holes, so better off without it, etc.  N E waze, my main config, which I do via 'Pserv.cpl' is ~>

      1) DHCP Client = internet
      2) Event Log = just 2 avoid 'shut down hanging' (bug)
      3) Plug And Play = Audio
      4) Windows Audio = as above
      5) Remote Procedure Call (RPC) = runs 'everything' (pretty much =)
& just turn everything else off ~>
= The old version is the best = typical LOL =))

N E waze, I'm a big XP expert (though not 2 the level of Ramsey in a 'programming/installer' way) but more a 'tweak it out & optimize it' way.  Ideally somebody should modify the 'before internet explorer came out' version of Windows '95, & add whatever other 'compatibility' layers would B needed 2 run 'modern' software on top of it, because pre-IE '95 is way faster than N E thing after it, same way '98 is faster than XP, wich is faster than 7, which is faster than N E Micro$cam OS after that, etc.  They just keep getting more bloated & slow with the 'required' threads running.  Where '95/98 etc only need 1 'process' XP needs 5 or so (pretty much) & 7 way more, & 10 even more, etc.  Just because U have a CPU that can do 64 bit doesn't mean it is faster if U run a 64 bit OS.  The exact opposite is true = the fewer the bits, the faster U get =)  64 bit is a total $cam =P

4 instance, even without the 'PAE' extension working 2 'address more RAM' U could always just boot with a RAM disk thing 2 dump the 'swap file' there & grow it N E size, same way U can run 'giant' drives on old Win 98 & whatever by using 'drive overlay software' 2 get around BIOS limitations.  Newer does not mean better.  With operating systems it's usually the opposite.  Micro$oft spends the majority of their effort DESTROYING the user interface & other features, but maybe 'Nobara' will finally give us another option =)  Even 'Chrome' OS can run on regular PC hardware & do Windows apps, so the easier we can switch the better.  Even Windows 7 is a total wreck compared 2 XP, like the file management interface is totally broken, relatively speaking.  It all just keeps getting worse with Micro$hit =P

iGuess my point here is if U R curious it seems maybe (??) finally there R some potential 'replacements' 4 Widows that can actually work = instead of flakey 'hacks' 2 run Windows apps on Linux or whatever. All people need is a 'compatibility layer' 2 run the PROGRAMS they like. It's not so much about the OS itself, & Google Dox (among others) R in many ways superior alternatives 2 Micro$oft $tuff = interesting if U R curious . . .

U R better off going with Intel Xeon + nVidia =)  Don't use the official drivers site, because they deliberately break it 2 try & discourage & sabotage people who buy their cards on the used market.  Go here instead ~>
Latest XP driver (depending on model) ~>
Supported card list for that particular driver (others available) ~>
Etc.  I've tried AMD stuff in the past & they R less compatible with Windows, & same goes 4 ATI stuff = less flexible than nVidia.  U can try 2 save a bit of money on new prices for the same or faster speed maybe going AMD or ATI but U do pay 4 it in the long run with 'compatibility issues' =P  Also avoid the 'i' prefix series of Intel CPUs, as they have 'spin lock loop' issues or whatever, slowing '.NET' type stuff like crazy 2 try & get fake 'low power efficiency' ratings on the 'spec sheet' = kind of like an audio brand listing 'peak watts', as if that even matters =))  The best indicator of the sound quality of a regular ('class A/B) audio amplifier/receiver is the physical weight, as that tells U how 'slammin' the bass & stuff will B, because bigger transformer = more current =)

iWould suggest 'old' used Dells, like the T3500, or T5810 (iHav 12 of those currently, running XP). iMay $ell them off with Win 10 or 11 garbage 2 profit but iLike how they're all identical as a 'testing platform' & 'backups' & would rather get even more & 'rent' them various ways =D Like with multi-boot Nobara, 10, etc. Nobody likes 11. Fools 'tolerate' it thinking they 'need' it but they don't. Win 7 is also a good option but people even think that is '2 old' if they R a 'sheep' not interested in doing N E research =P 7, 10, 11, etc. = they're all $hit compared 2 XP. Nobara may B better but not sure yet = still in the learning phase 4 me =)

Here we have now a Tablet PC 2005 Standalone Installer.

This Installer includes all the Tablet PC 2005 updates and .NET Framework v1.0 updates.
For some stage reason .NET Framework v1.0 is required for the Tablet PC 2005 to work correctly. If .NET Framework v1.0 is not found on your computer then the Installer will add it. The Uninstaller can also remove the .NET Framework v1.0 from your computer if selected.

Hey Ramsey, should WinNTSetup be able to install XP Integral? Tried in a VM with the Patched ISO, and it complains about wdf01000.sys not being found.
Tried with an unpatched ISO on a separate VM - it complained about nvraid.sys not being found.
Seems that WinNTSetup works it out with a "Floppyless" install, checking for stuff in the $WIN_NT$.~BT folder in the Boot (aka in MS nomenclature: System) volume.

If the WinNTSetup tool is messing around with the ISO files then it can cause problems.
The Windows XP setup files "DOSNET.INF" and "TXTSETUP.SIF" have all the infos on how the files should be copied at the installation stage.

@Ramsey Not sure, but I have noticed that since it follows the "Floppyless" method, it seems to copy files that are included in the "FloppyFiles" sections in dosnet.inf (I wonder what are the fundamental differences between .1,.2,.3 and .x FloppyFiles sections)?

      Here's a tl;dr (hope it won't eat that again!):
      1. Moved relevant lines of wdf01000.sys, wdf01011.inf and wdfldr.sys from [SourceDisksFiles] to [SourceDisksFiles.x86] in txtsetup.sif - the section seems to be proper for handling at text-mode setup stage.
      DOSNET.inf changes: put d1,wdf01000.sys and d1,wdfldr.sys under ucx01000.sys in [FloppyFiles.2].
      2. Handled duped lines of sdbus.inf & sdbus.sys (not handling it will cause the i386 setup to yell about not being able to copy these files). Kept only lines under SourceDisksFiles.x86, and removed the duped lines in [Files] under dosnet.inf.

These steps allowed me to get past through the "Copying files..." i386 text-mode stage. Will keep you posted and see if I can actually get the system installed and work just like if I installed traditionally, via disc o7

@MorningGlory Coming with results of the WinNTSetup experiment - the OS actually installed correctly when relevant changes mentioned below are done, and so far I haven't noticed any drawbacks compared to the traditional method of installing via disc. See the hell-of-a-mozaic-for-a picrel attached. 😄

It's gonna be one hell of a moloch trying to fix that in the Vanilla ISO, considering the driverpack integration and helluva lot of storage drivers to be solved, and whatnot.

Don't really have that much experience in manually modifying dosnet.inf and txtsetup.sif, just tinkering until it gets to work. 😂
But the DOSNET config seems not to be just for handling files when winnt32 is ran & the source is from some kinda remote location. I've attached these files for those more knowledgeable on that to have a say. (txtsetup.inf needs to have the extension set to .SIF, as it wouldn't attach otherwise).

Used WinNTSetup v4.2.5 (last version running in x86 Windows host systems, the latest version of the application seemed to silently crash just after the "Copying source files" prompt, not sure if it's Integral-specific or if it happens with vanilla XP SP3 images too) to image the medium to a 120GB NTFS Windows volume (and drop the bootfiles to a 32MB FAT16-formatted boot volume, similar partition layout to later versions of Windows). Of course, had to set the VBR for the boot volume to NTLDR with BootICE so that it won't bork, and the volume was active.
Had WinNTSetup use the unattended answer file, and set the proper OEM folder path.

By the way, Ramsey, it was a mistake to remove the UDF 2.5 driver as the Feature Pack for Storage update just pertains to IMAPI stuff - which for this case is the ability of burning/mastering discs that will use the UDF2.5 filesystem. Reading such discs is still a problem without using a 3rd-party driver:

Tested it myself by creating a test ISO image using UDF 2.5 in ImgBurn, unfortunately trying to access it will burst a "Disk is not formatted" error, mentioning an incompatible format.

Looking forward to a new release 😉

@MorningGlory Looks like WinNTSetup is a little bit picky, because normally it doesn't matter where we put the filenames in the dosnet.inf file. I will add all the cahnges in the next release.

And looks like I have to re-add the UDF2.5 driver again because of MickySoft dong again a half job at supporting something.

      @Ramsey
normally it doesn't matter where we put the filenames in the dosnet.inf file
Just putting that in dosnet.inf didn't seem to do the job, but when I moved the txtsetup.sif entries from [SourceDisksFiles] to [SourceDisksFiles.x86] have done the trick. Which is why I thought the text-setup might detect it then.

At least I've learned something (at least from observing it). Putting entries in FloppyFiles will copy them to $WIN_NT$.~BT folder, if needed for the 1st stage setup to be used.
But for copying stuff to the install volume during the stage, putting under [SourceDisksFiles.x86] does the trick.

BTW, keep in mind these are changes for the PatchIntegrated XP-IE ISO (patch options in the screenshot). Vanilla might have different lines to be changed - that's why I'm worried at nvraid.sys not only being the culprit, but a dozen of the drivers from DriverPacks. Testing may be needed.

Hey guys, I have a strange problem - I installed Windows XP on ASUS CM1435 (F2A55-M motherboard) and it is very fast, Windows XP loading screen is there for about 2-3 seconds and it boots instantly.
Now I have purchased AsRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3, which is a more powerful motherboard, but booting sometimes takes 20 seconds, even after installing all the drivers. Does anyone have any experience with long boot times? Thanks!

@Teotl I presume your boot.ini already has /fastdetect as an option since it's default, but you can add the /SOS flag to boot.ini to help get an idea if something takes a long time.
It will show you the name of each driver as they are loaded, and if you will notice it "hangs" if anyone takes a huge amount of time.
(Can also add /bootlog to write info to %SystemRoot%\ntbtlog.txt but it will not help to see which one is slowing you down.)

There are more complex tools from Microsoft to track down boot times, but 20 secs for a full boot doesn't seem out of the ordinary while 2-3 secs is similar to waking up from hibernation, but I'm not familiar with your hardware.

@R.G Yeah, he's posted a new video regarding mitigating the stuff he's been talking about in XP-IE:

Not sure if he has even checked how things exactly changed in this build compared to vanilla ISO, especially when he worried about the custom scripts running in the setup (he could've checked the OEM and RunOnce folders to snoop, that and he could've always snooped for the .sif/.inf setup configurations - and their compressed variants - in order to check their contents). Kinda surprised that he didn't realize in order to utilise the >4GiB ram he had to use the PAE patcher.
Don't know if he had fully read the README, or that he was surprised of only one file per patch when checking systeminfo for any patches installed, while not realising that qfecheck exists :))

IMO, There are some valid points to the stuff he's talking about, and it might be worthwhile for Ramsey to reach out to him (and vice-versa) and sort that out. I couldn't find any sense in having Remote Assistance enabled as it's fairly useless, especially as it's not that tied to RDP (Remote Desktop), and sometimes it might be worth to have some parts that tend to be abused by malicious agents hardened. :]

Here's a resources if one wants RDP still enabled and wants it protected. Kinda a fairly old source, so maybe this Tech Guy One guy may provide better way to do. that: https://www.mobydisk.com/techres/securing_remote_desktop.html

I would like to recommend a valuable upgrade for your Windows XP ISO. Consider including the One Core API project. This would cause the One Core API to be automatically installed along with Windows XP, providing some benefits.

    What is One Core API?

The One Core API allows you to run modern software and take better advantage of newer hardware on the legacy Windows XP operating system. It bridges the gap between Windows XP compatibility and newer versions.

A while ago I tried contacting those 'core' guys through their 'web form' 2 suggest they do exactly that, + a few other tweaks, but never heard back from them.  Do U have some actual E-Mail addresses 4 those 'developers' iCould try out?  I'm happy 2 pay them =)  Can reach me at 'balkanguy (at) live (dot) com'. 1 of the sily things they should 'undo' is using a later 'shell' than XP, because XP is WAAAY better than N E thing that came after in terms of file management interface =D  Even the  simplest things, Micro$hit really goes out of their way 2 wreck it, like the 'save as' dialog is so DELIBERATELY broken even with 'disable full row select' hax, the 'save as dialog box' doesn't automatically scroll the frame under the mouse cursor, & instead have 2 grab the slider = insane!  XP's Windows Explorer is also more compact & efficient in layout, without so much need hacking, except of course 'QTTabBar' which is really ESSENTIAL in N E 'Windows' setup =)  Even that could B better = like 'enclosing' BOTH the right & left pane within each tab, instead of having 2 play visual 'catch up' on the left frame when switching tabs 2 show different contents in the right pane 'elsewhere'.

@Rickz I added a link to it in the "Recommended Programs.txt" file. But I can't per-install this because some users can run into BSOD and then I would get bombarded with comments. 🙃

@Ramsey LOL @ pretending it will cause BSOD = U really like 2 lie a lot =))  U use MPC-HC & other 3'rd party programs.  Being a 'program' does not necessarily mean 'BSOD' or whatever.  Instead of LYING U should just say 'I am not interested in doing any of that stuff.  Feel free to roll your own custom release.' =)  Pretending it's a 'BSOD Risk' is just U being a 'trolling jakazz' =P  Kind of like the clowns who pretend the (((Clot $hots))) R about 'safety'.

@Dood McMan If you weren't so self-centered and read a few forum topics in msfn.org or mydigitallife.net . . . then you would see that people run into such problems.

And again stop spamming the comment section with shit posts and make false accusations without any proof. I don't have time to edit, move or delete all of your nonsense over and over again.

@Dood McMan If you've done some basic reading, you'd know that One Core API is not simply a "program", it directly modify your system files in the process. Of course people would get BSOD...

@Ramsey What people say on forums is mostly lies, + it's irrelevant because YOUR 'job' as 'the programmer type guy' is 2 TEST the $hit yorself 2 C if it is stable with YOUR $oftware configuration 2 C if it can ENHANCE yor 'product offering'.  It's like if U said 'I would like to sell forks but I've read that some people poke their eye out with them, so iDon't have any time to look into it' = LOL!! =))  Nothing iEver say is '$hitposting' or 'trolling' or $pam or N E of that krap, & U know it.  If U R 'not interested' or want a certain amount of MONEY 2 make it  'worth yor while' THAT iz wat U $hould $ay, not 'BSOD risk' = like car makers pretending a girl will get raped in a parking lot if they let a mechanic work on their car's 'brain' = LOL  Get a clue =))  Yes U R very $mart, but nobody is perfect =D ~> iDon't need 2 'read all about it' 2 know that the 'premise' of the entire argument of 'but BSOD!' is FALSE =;-o  'I read on some forums that people can't make FAT32 drivers larger than 32 gigabytes' HAHAHA 'iHeard that NTFS is better than FAT32 so it must B true!' . . .even though it takes literally more than 20X longer 2 'chkdsk' & all the 'permission level hellscape' is totally unnecessary in a typical home PC environment, etc.  B REEL! =D  BTW: That'z another YUUUGE advantage ov Window $ex Pee = can boot frum FAT32 = makes things WAAAY more stable & quik (like if U get a little 'error' on it, booting from a small partition, fixes FAST! =;-o  BTW: 2 every1 = always make yor boot partition as small as U can get away with, otherwise if U get a 'bad shutdown' or something U could B looking at days or literally WEEKS if U have millions of files Micro$hit 'needs' 2 'chkdsk' because yor PC got stuck on a bad app & had 2 'hard reboot' or something LOL!!  NTFS is absolute krap =P

@Dood McMan Are you now going completely crazy? I cannot test every progam that people use on different computer configurations. This project is a community project and not a one-man project. Many people contributed to make this WinXP-IE possible. This project goes back almost 20 years.
