    is it possible to install this on a GPT partition ? i am using Samsung 970 EVO. and during installation it wont let me proceed because i already have windows 10 installed on it in GPT format.

    if so, how ? do i need to create a Hybrid partition or is that a bad idea ? since i do not have other drives around to use

      sorry, GPT booting isn't supported by XP.

      You'll need a separate drive formatted in MBR not GPT to boot XP.

      @infuscomus It is possible to boot XP 64 on a GPT partition

      how come it isn't possible to patch the 32 bit version to do the same ? with all the source codes leaks around the internet

      XP 64 is build from the server 2003 codebase.

      Also, if I'm not mistaken only x64 Itanium-based systems supported boot from GPT for server 2003, I don't think amd64 builds supported it.

    Why was Movie Maker removed? It's an iconic piece of Windows XP built-in software that can still be useful. I recall 720p templates being available, and also there is a mention of extra stuff from the Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 version of Movie Maker not present in the regular version.

      There are other programs for Windows XP that are a lot better than Movie Maker. And Movie Maker doesn't support any modern video format.
      And I'm sure you will not use Windows XP to do video editing. (drunk)

      @Ramsey Couldn't you add ACM/VFW codecs so modern video formats work with Movie Maker?
      I know it isn't a serious tool, I know there are better alternatives (maybe suggest them in the recommended apps readme?) but XP just seems empty without it.

      @MrMateczko
      I tried it and you can import other video/audio files when you rename the file extension to .mpeg/.mp3 this will work most of the time.
      But the problem is that Movie Maker doesn't like the LAV Filters and crashes.
      It works with the ffdshow Filters with or without the VFW Codec. Sadly you can't say to Movie Maker to use ffdshow Filters instead of the LAV Filters.

      You can also download the Movie Maker v2.0.3312.0 installer from here.

      @Ramsey Could it be related to these movie maker errors mentioned above?
      Apparently there's no problems with the Windows LIve Essentials version of Movie Maker but apparently it's not available for XP (even from WLE2009 which overall supports XP)

      @Guest16346
      The best way for him to edit videos on Windows XP is to use "Adobe Premiere Pro CS4" and "Adobe After Effects CS4".
      To include the ffdshow Filters only to be able to use the Windows Movie Maker would be a little bit useless i think.

      @Ramsey Thanks for the feedback. It seems that including it might be too much of a hassle, which is understandable. Guess I'll have to add it myself :)

    The included Xp codec pack v1.1 is it the same as/or modded version of the last Xp codec pack 2.7.4 which contains the same components? Thanks.

      Ramsey · 4 years ago
      @Mark
      The "X Codec Pack" is a different one than the "XP Codec Pack".
      I had to do this "XP Codec Pack" myself, because there was no Codec Pack for WinXP that included all the Up-to-Date components.

      Guest16346 · 4 years ago
      @Ramsey Talking about newer components, the latest K-Lite codec pack for XP includes a newer (i think the nightly version) version of MPC-HC. (the one in the XP Codec Pack is dated July, which I think it's the official release, while the K-Lite one is dated August).
      Also, if you are keen on, you could also include the Codec Tweak Tool in your codec pack (the one bundled in the latest K-Lite pack for XP is 6.3.2, but the last version of it that officially supports XP is 6.3.9: http://web.archive.org/web/20190516011733/https://www.codecguide.com/download_other.htm
      6.4.0 released May 20 2019 doesn't officially support XP, and i'm pretty sure it doesn't at all)
      When it comes to MPC-BE, while the latest version is 1.4.6, there's an unofficial backport of 1.4.7 (https://yadi.sk/d/Dp0nionU3NcVdN). The MPCVideoDec.ax filter which is also included in standalone filters pack can be useful to add, as it's the latest DXVA1 video decoder working with XP.

      @Guest16346
      1. I think the MPC-HC from K-Lite is some kind of modified version. Because it has no Digital Signature and the .exe file is 3MB smaller. And i also couldn't find any newer nightly version that would run on Windows XP.

      2. The Codec Tweak Tool is not really needed. Everything is already in the "XP Codec Pack" Start menu. ;)

      3. MPC-BE 1.4.7 Vs. MPC-HC 1.7.13.32. The question is now which one has the more Up-to-Date code in it. (drunk)

      @Ramsey 1. Probably the guys over K-Lite built it from the repo, I doubt it's really modified for malicious or unneeded intents, so I guess it doesn't hurt using this version.
      2. Maybe, but considering how light it is, I doubt it would make a difference for size, and it might be useful for enabling/disabling specific filters or codecs, like for ex. disabling LAV Video filter and enabling the MPCVideoDec.ax one for DXVA1-accelerated decoding. That and the fixes section might be useful for detecting and removing broken/invalid codecs.

      Of course, it's your choice as it's your codec pack. BTW, the LAV filters included are these XP-compatible ones compiled from 3dyd's repo?

      @Guest16346
      Yes the included LAV Filter is the backported XP LAV Filter, which should work with DXVA2 on Windows XP, if I'm not wrong.
      Also the "MPCVideoDec.ax" is not being installed whit K-Lite on my VirtualBox.

      @Ramsey Yeah, that MPCVideoDec.ax filter isn't included in K-Lite, iirc it's what MPC-HC used by default before they moved to LAV Filters (back in 2013, i think?). Kinda nice to see MPC-BE still bundling it, or at least the versions that support XP.
      Also, consider using VMware or at least VBox versions before 6.1, as for ex. the "Direct3D" acceleration support (which is basically modified WineD3D, but that's not the point) has been axed from XP's guest additions and can't make it to work even with older guest additions, due to the VboxOGL ICD being removed from NT 5.x clients.

    Hi Ramsey,

    I installed XP and it went great. But I notice that the Local Disk is mounted as E:\ and not C:\. How do I change the local disk to C? I tried an old MS tutorial involving the registry but that broke the system.

    Regards.

      @Yardam
      Windows XP doesn't like it when you change the driver letter after the installation.
      You would need to change all the register path entries from "E:" to "C:" and "E?" to "C?"

    Ola Ramsey.
    After integrating the original Spanish updates up to 2014 to Windows XP Original Spanish, the memory was reduced from 15.9 GB to 3.11 GB.
    I tried to activate "PAE 3.5+ RAM Unlock" manually from the folder inside "WinXP-IE Optional Patch Integrator v2.4.1b2" but the command only activates for a time of less than one (1) second giving no time to run it because it closes immediately.
    I then downloaded "WinXP-IE Optional Patch Integrator v2.4.1b4" hoping that this new version would help but the same thing happened.
    Then I downloaded "WinXPPAE_v3" and the same thing happened, although it seems to be the same as the one integrated in "WinXP-IE Optional Patch Integrator v2.4.1b4".
    How do I recover the previously recognized memory? Thanks in advance.

      @julioavanti
      The patched files are being overwritten by the new Windows XP updates.
      You need to run the Patch file with the CMD command:
      ENTER-PATH\WinXP-PAE-Patch.exe /M:128GB

      There is a problem with the Captcha and the new PHP updates. Captcha is now disabled for the moment.
      But if you register then you never have to enter any Captcha anymore.

      @julioavanti It seems that the command is different from the previous one, or am I wrong? The first part that says
      "ENTER-PATH" was not there before.

    If I apply the 128gb patch, do I have to enable both 4gb and 128gb in the integrator? Or should I only have 128gb active?

      @avi Are you using the Vanilla ISO as-is, or the ISO with the patches integrated via the Patch Integrator? if the earlier, then don't be surprised.
      Delete the integrator files included from the pack with the Integral Edition - the whole "Integrator Files" folder and the .cmd file from the root folder with the XP-IE vanilla ISO in it, and put these new files in their place. Then use the patch integrator to integrate fixes/patches that are suitable for modern mobos/CPUs, and most importantly - for your case, to the ISO.
      I'd suggest you have these following Options enabled: 1 (SATA/AHCI),2(NVMe),4 (xHCI/USB3),6 (ACPI Patch),either 7 (max 4GB, there shouldn't be any stability issues related to this option) or 8 (max 128GB, may have stability issues) for the PAE RAM patch. the D, K, U, and T options should be enabled as dependencies for some of the earlier options.

      @Guest16346 Ok thank you. I’ve already tried to the patch integrator, but I will try the new one on the site this time around. Thanks for the advice.

      @Ramsey Fine! ;)
      Does the new WinXPPAE patch correctly work for the 4GB option? I was not able to have a working patch with it.
      Have you a new Optional Patch Integrator version to check if that option works?
    • This commment is unpublished.
      Ramsey · 4 years ago
      @Andalu It should work with v3 if you Replace:
      /4GB /NB 1>NUL
      With:
      /M:4GB /NB
      In the "Optional Patch Integrator".

      @Ramsey Even if the WinXPPAE /4GB step is completed without issues, the process breaks on the Digital File Signing step ...strange. I have only added the changes you suggested and replaced the WinXPPae.exe v2 with the new version, remaning it in WinXP-PAE-Patch.exe.

    Hello! I want to ask some questions.
    1. Is there way for me to use this on server 2003 I built using the leaked codes?
    2. Can I install to UEFI only computers?
    3. Can I remove the added components (like themes and Av etc) from Integral ED after install?
    4. Or can I just use my own XP iso? (sorry almost same as #1)
    5. Can I gain more ram? I dont want to use xp 64bit ver, it's too bad.
    Thanks!
