Hi there, another new guy here.

i'm planning to do a new project where i'll put XP in SSD. i want to make it last long. Any suggestion about TRIM support. i read it that XP doesnt support TRIM. is this an actual problem or we can just ignore it?

@psyionx Search in the ReadMe file for SSD. ;)

@psyionx One also has to remember that in addition to formatting/partitioning/aligning the SSD using something way newer (and better) than XP's implementation (I personally recommend doing it by GParted), defragging also has to be disabled for the SSD. You also have to keep in mind that XP does not natively support TRIM, so in order to make this work, your SSD (and the manufacturer software) needs to support TRIM alongside the AHCI controller driver.

Samsung SSDs seem to have great support for XP. Just make sure you get an older version of Magician linked here: https://www.filehorse.com/download-samsung-magician/25943/

ADATA SSDs also seem to have support for XP, since somehow the latest (as of time writing this - 3.0.9) SSD Toolbox still can be run on XP (at least the Professional x64 Edition which this version was tested in), if this might not work, version 2.0.1 must support XP. As a sidenote, this version is unique consdering it doesn't have an artificial vendor block when it comes to TRIMming, so this specific version can be used for any compatible SSD. Here's the link to that specific version: http://wp.xin.at/archives/829 (I also recommend reading this entire blogpost, since it features tips and tricks for XP64 mostly, but some of them also fit for regular XP32)

Can I use ASR to backup the older Black Edition 9-2015?
    Thanks

@IR That's a good question, this is one thing i never used in Windows XP. :^) But i don't see why it should not work. (bomb)

@Ramsey ASR backup left a bunch of driverpack stuff on C: I ran the "DP_Install_Tool.cmd" on the black edition CD. When it was done and I did a restart the files were gone. Do you think that worked?

Maybe I should use the original xpsp3 disk next time for ASR?

@IR Try to run DPsFnshr.exe, normal this file is being executed after the Windows XP installation.
    • This commment is unpublished.
@Ramsey I tried that first DPsFnshr.exe maybe it thinks the files are on a different drive (I have 3), it doesn't remove them on C:.

Running DP_Install_Tool.cmd works, when it is done it removes all the files on C:.

Using an original xpsp3 disk for ASR should not be an issue? I was thinking the newer IE8 WMP11 being on the black disk might be a problem since it is missing on the original disk.

What if you installed IE and WMP later?? same thing?
Original might be better to use?

I get the blank blue screen at the end on reboot after install of INTEGRAL EDITION I am running Pentium II 266

Never had a problem with the older black edition from around 2015 except for the last updates.

I have to remove some new updates, has to do with cpu old chip?

Installing the old Black Edition now and I will remove IE8 only, I am having trouble on that too.
I have the correct disk now? Was getting the same blue screen as above on reboot.

Was removing media player with IE at the same time, maybe that was some of the problem?

I don't know what I am doing, just some info I found.

@Ramsey The above updates in INTEGRAL EDITION are probably making it hang on install? That is what I was thinking?

I am able to remove them after the updates, if I ever get it to update again? It seem after IE6 rollback windows update works better?

Need to get it back to Black Edition and IE6, I have done it before.

      I will update post
      Thanks!

@IR Black Edition date 9-2015 loads fine except for this error
""CPU does not meet minimum requirement; Streaming SIMD Extensions support required.""
      I just click OK

Not sure what it means, but it loads fine?

IE8 will not roll back, I am leaving it alone this time. Will see soon if it will update?

@IR Black Edition 9-2015 clean install with no updates wont roll back to IE6 (error iertutil.dll not found.)
It must be something from the updates in the Black Edition? I have done it on other old pc's.

I have an ASR backup before I tried the roll back to IE6....we will see if ASR works?

I should be ok with IE8 it looks like updates will run.

Will hide the KB list you posted on install of updates.

Got myself some great free-totally adware free- unlimited software which work great in XP. The quality and simplicity are excellent in both. I prefer the Leapic for ease, but the other has great presets too.
Ramsey would you test out the Leapic Media Converter 5.0 and Kastor Video Converter 2.3 to see if both work in Win10 as well? Cheers mate.

@Jacko Both work in Win8 and I've seen Win10 on some freeware sites. Good software with excellent output.

What are your thoughts on MPC-HC and Media Player Classic - Black Edition (MPC-BE)?

@vlorsutes1 They don't support Windows XP anymore. And PotPlayer is also based on MPC with more options and with Windows XP support.

@vlorsutes1 Haven't really taken to Pot Player as I find navgation of it a bit awkward, so I still use Media Player Classic Home Cinema 1.7.13 portable. Works great!

New guy on the block here! Is there MD5 hash available for Win XP Pro SP3 X86 - Integral Ed. (2019.6.15)?
And how do I add an avatar to my profile?

@Peter LaRamee The SHA-1 is in the file name if you download it from this site.
And you can add an avatar to your profile by clicking on your Name at the top right corner and then click Thumbnail editing.

@Ramsey Yes, I downloaded the file from zone62. I just expanded the width of the 'name column' and now see the SHA-1 hash. So, I've got that now and will check the downloaded file's hash to compare with what's in the file name before opening it.

Please advise what pixel size is appropriate for my new avatar.

Looking forward to do a clean installation of your Integral Edition. While awaiting your reply, I spent quite some time going through the comments and was happy to see the many positive remarks posted about your work on Win XP which I have been using for ages... Your dedication to this task is to be commended!

@Peter LaRamee Before you reinstall i would wait another 2-3 days, because their will be a new version coming out. ;)
And the uploaded avatar will be fit automatically to the correct size.

Don't want to be the grammar police, but a couple of typo errors in 'Recommended Programs' text file after a fresh XP Integral install: next to Sterjo firewall and Linus reader at the bottom of the list.

Both say 'a feee tool.. Should be 'a free tool..' of course. :D

@infuscomus I don't have any Z370 or Z390 with WinXP.. But i did a quick test in VirtualBox with the ICH7 option and it doesn't work with that option.

      @Ramsey Thanks,

it's probably an ACPI related problem, we ran into this on real hardware

There is a newer extended support version of Firefox. 60.8.0 ESR. I downloaded the portable paf for XP. If it works there's an installer exe version I think on Mozilla site. This for me is preferable than Basilisk as it is much wider supported.

@Jacko 60.8 ESR works great in Win7 but not in xp. The Legacy portable 5.90 is fine.

I installed the last version of XP Integral. Ramsey the Pot Player is a good sleek player with loads of functions, but I reverted back to Media Player Classic Home Cinema 1.7.13 portable version due to it outputs video sound much much louder. No matter what adjustments I made in Pot Player in the audio options the sound output was too quiet even after increasing the loudness and bass as well as equalizer etc.

Also the Basilisk Player is not recognised by Yahoo((Firefox is), only Yahoo Classic is the option offered in its mail. Spyware Blaster a great browser protector only recognises Firefox Mozilla too. That said is Basilisk a better browser than last Firefox XP versionversion, but lacking some support by numerous softwares or platforms? Thanks for your great work.

@Pensioner I never noticed any different in the sound volume in PotPlayer or MPC-HC they also use the same codec.
And in Basilisk/FireFox you can change the User Agent to anything you want, by doing this:
      1. Enter about:config into the URL box and hit enter.
      2. Search for “general.useragent.override” and change the yahoo one to FireFox 52 or 68.
