@Eduard It still not opening the WinXP-IE Options Selector in a original Windows XP Integral Edition installation of a original Windows XP copy. What I should do after I copy WXPIERO.inf and WXPIERO.CM_ files from Integral Edition i386 in the i386 folder from a original Windows XP copy?

      Ramsey · 1 years ago
@Eduard The "WXPIERO.inf" file will start the file "WXPIERO.cmd" at the end of the installation. And the "WXPIERO.cmd" file will search for the "WinXPPx86IE - Setup.cmd" file in all the drives and folders.

re: USB 3.0 for Windows XP Integral Edition (Intel Z77 / C216 Chip)
I did everything as instructed, however I still cannot make this USB 3.0 Intel driver work on my XP Integral Installation. I installed the MISC files, I Installed WDF 1.11, but after the next reboot, the device manager still "sees" my Intel onboard USB 3.0 connection as USB 2.0 (EHCI). (I think it's PCI VEN=8086, DEV = 1E26). Win 7 has no problem here whatsoever to detect this USB root hubs as XHCI (USB 3.0)

any idea how to proceed from here ?

    kind regards

@Maxx (from Austria) Try the other USB drivers. And you can also check the Hardware ID in the *.inf files.

@Maxx (from Austria) You have to follow a different procedure to install the USB3 driver on your Ivy Bridge system. Here the link to download the drivers package:

Are those extra modified *.sys drivers? Or is it just the added *.inf settings that do the trick?

      @Maxx (from Austria)
The "Kernel-Mode Driver Framework 1.11" are already added in the "Patch Integrator" (wdf01011.inf).

Yes, I know ... Andalu's driver it's an EXTRA driver to seemingly "activate" the Intel Ivy Bridge "USB 3.0 Switch" of my Ivy Bridge (Z77, H77, C216) mainboard - and needs some PREREQUISITES

Now I have most of these PREQ. already installed (from your Integral Edition)
      KDF 1.11
USB 3.0 driver (from Win 8)

missing seem only this USB 3.0 switch driver (for Intel Mainboards - IVy Bridge, HAswell etc)
      and that "modded ACPI.SYS"

      best to you

@Ramsey The USB3 drivers in the package I reported are up to date at that time, so the ones in the Patch Integrator should work without problems. The only addition is the HCSwitch that is used when some systems (almost certainly a laptop) have USB ports that can function as USB2 and USB3 (as I think Maxx's system is, if I'm not mistaken).

If I remember correctly (it has been quite a while) the Patch Integrator was not enough to get USB3 function on my Haswell desktop system and it was necessary to apply some modifications to the system with the tools WPCredit and WPCrset.

@Andalu If i read the ReadMe file correctly, then we only need the "Gen4 Series8 - C220 and later" because this one also work on older Chipsets (C216 and older)?

Hello Ramsey, I am trying to install XP integral on my new-ish XP laptop with an nvme but when I proceed with the installer it throws a 0x00000007b (circa) error. Am I missing something in here? I really need XP for a legacy program.

Maxx (from Austria) · 1 years ago
@John Doe Hmm ... I managed to get a Samsung PM981 driver to work.

Pls. take into acct, that b4 installing any NVME driver, ou have to copy these 3 files from the "Patch Integrator 3.5.0" subdirectory PATCHES\Miscellaneous to the C:\Windows\system32\drivers directory. Talking about these files there:
      ntoskrn8.sys
      storpor8.sys
      storports.sys
... the way I see it, these files seemingly backport Win7/Win8 Storport extension interface to WinXP, allowing you to run modded NVMe drivers in WinXP ...
plus there is a Readme.TXT file in the "Miscellaneous" directly that I would encourage you tor read.

Then you can install any NVMe driver. You might try the "Intel" one or the "Microsoft" one from the "Patch Inegrator 3.5.0" directoy. You might have to FORCE the driver, for example I was able to use the Microsoft NVME driver for my PM981 (Samsung OEM) SSD, however WinXP didn't see this as "compatible". I had to override the slections given and FORCE WinXP to use this driver.

Another hint: at least in my case, while sequential operations (benchmarked with AS-SSD 1.8) were ok speed wise, Random 4K operations on a single thread clearly had abyssmal rates, especially write rates. This is imho as WinXP offers no "Device Manager" attribute to force a delay of any Write Cache flush. However SAMSUNG consumer drivers are said to take care of this issue directly at the driver level. That's why I ordered a cheapo Samsung SSD 970 EVO 500GB (for under €50) to try this out this M.2 NVMe SSD as the Data drive for this WinXP installation.

      hope this helps,
      Maxx (from Austria)

@John Doe Try all the NVMe drivers. It's a hit or miss depending on the computer hardware.

Maxx (from Austria) · 1 years ago
@John Doe Well, I'd try a different NVM SSD / NVM driver combination. Most proabably, Samsung consumer drives are a good hint, especially those with DRAM cache ... SSD 970 EVO, SSD 980 EVO , SSD 960 EVO for example.

      take care,
      Maxx (from Austria)

Hey Mr. Ramsey, could you and your programmer contacts please include the 'run more recent applications' layer stuff to XP so we can use programs that previously would only run on Vista+ or later? Here is a site/network I found with maybe some ways you can 'easily' do it? ~>

There are some apps I use a lot like Firefox & the only versions that are fast for browsing Youtube will not run on XP, & the 'MyPal' chrome back-port & '360 Browser' hacks are buggy & slow by comparison =P Other things that would help XP a lot are ~>
~ Add 'Desktop Sync' so no tearing watching web browser & other 'windowed' videos. I've heard it requires 'Aero' with Windows 7, whatever that means.
~ Add 'APO / Audio Processor Object' support so can plug in effects to the system-wide Windows sound mixer (like Equalizers, levelers, etc. =)
~ Disable the fake 'BSOD' (Blue Screen Of Death) when moving boot drive to different PC, changing motherboards, etc. Should auto-detect the new hardware instead, like WIndows '98 on back did with no problem! =)

For Windows 7 on forward, there are many things that need fixing & would help a lot, like ~>
~ Disable (by default) auto-sorting of folder contents when dropping or expanding items (this very annoying 'post XP' sabotage/bug makes it impossible to find & sort 'new' items 'dropped' into large directories)
~ Enable booting from FAT32 partitions (because it is infinitely faster & more stable than NTFS =) Those who have tried 2 'repair' or do other 'fancy things' with partitions know all about it! =)
~ Enable running (& reading, etc.) 'legacy' type ('old' format) desktop themes with Vista+ (7, 8, 10, 11 etc.) like 4 example generic 'XP' style desktop themes. They are much more intuitive & quick & E Z 2 use, & so simple 2 customize just by editing simple 'text' files =) it is also consistent across the 'save as' popup boxes & elsewhere, unlike 'modern' theme methods, & can even customize things like the thickness & size of individual 'frame' type elements & colors of all the parts (not just 'certain backgrounds')

I have tried Apple/Mac, Vista, 7, & 10 & they are all much less convenient & flexible & fast than Windows XP & if a few more necessary features & 'compatibility layers' were added to XP there is really no need to ever switch, forever. Clearly banks have figured that out, as the limited features they need for running ATM machines means most of those still run on XP even now =) Always funny to hear people talk about how 'unsecure' it is = well not if you configure it right like they do, obviously. With my system, only 5 processes are running, which helps make things fast & secure, but it's not absolutely necessary ~>
    DHCP Client = internet
Event Log = just 2 avoid 'shut down hanging' (bug)
    Plug And Play = Audio
    Windows Audio = as above
Remote Procedure Call (RPC) = runs 'everything' (pretty much =)
= Note: Would be great if you could fix 'Event Log so we can disable that too without causing a temporary hanging problem at shut down.

BTW: I've been using 'MyPal' with the Chrome-based 'engine' for XP & though it can play Youtube videos & stuff it has a lot of bugs rendering various sites & 'hanging' issues & it would be much better if they could simply modify Firefox 115 (or later) to run on XP instead, as it is much faster & more stable & flexible & lots of add ons & other features available in addition to portable-ized versions that can store all the customizatios locally. I have extensively modified my version to minimize the 'phone home' & 'remote sabotage' things like Google Chrome & others do where they lose a lot of features when you move the 'so-called portable' app to other machines =P It also blocks all kinds of unnecessary Youtube 'features' & so on for a much better 'entertainment experience' =D Over the years I will continue modifying this for maximum performance, but can upload my current 'portableapps' snap shot if you want to try it out (something to replace 'MyPal' if you can get this 'Firefox 115 (or later) running on XP =)

For more details & other 'help' (but I am not a programmer =P) U (or others interested in this 'XP Enhancements' stuff can reach me at 'balkanguy (at) live (dot) com' =) BTW: I'm happy to help $ponsor these tweaks if necessary, & if it works. Just let me know!

@Dood McMan The "One-Core-Api" can cause BSOD that's why it is not included by default and it's added to the "Recommended Programs.txt" text file.

The BSOD when moving a Windows XP to different PC is not fake it's how some Windows NT's behave.

@Dood McMan Hmmm - when you cite "FAT32" ... what about exFAT support and support for boot into exFAT partitions ? Wouldn't that be much faster than NTFS as well, while at the same time not being burdened with FAT & FAT32 limitations ??

      kind regards

Hello! Would this be possible to run on Alder Lake generation intel computers? Such as Latitude 5430?
    thank you for your hardwork

@Dietmar Good, I will try to release a new version next week.
If you have a documentation list of modern hardware that still works with Windows XP then I could include that too.

@killap I will see if the 360Chrome User Profile bug can be fixed. And a new USB3 bug with the ACPI.sys file has be found too.

Wanted to install from scratch ... used RUFUS to create an USB boot stick on an 8GB USB3.0 drive. The stick boots on my Dell Precision 1650 Minitower Workstation (Xeon E3-1225 v2) but when trying to install it says - WinXP Setup cannot find the EULA - press [F3] to quit (all in Text mode). Would really like a hint what am I doing wrong here ..

Note - I'm attempting a "fresh" install ... on an empty blank NTFS partition (that I aligend correctly to 4K on an Win7 system)

The EULA is a Rufus problem that can popup if you have more than one Hard Disk drive.

      ReadMe File ->
(#) How to install Windows XP from a USB Flash Drive:
      . . .
      2. Download the latest WinSetupFromUSB version from the Website "http://www.winsetupfromusb.com".

@Ramsey Big Thanks - used the WinSetupFromUSB Proggy as suggested and installed the XP Integral Edition 2013/06 on a 64G SSD. Works like a charm. Will now download these XP x32 drivers for my Precision 1650 from the Dell website. This was the last "small" (Minitower) workstation series that officially supported Windows XP. ("Ivy Bridge" chipset series, for me running on an Xeon E3-1225 v2, Quadcore, DDR3 support).

      Two questions remain:

      1) Does the Integration of Kai Schtrom's NVM Driver allow me to put all DATA on an M.2 SSD Disk ? Will XP recognize it ? How "stable" is this driver - any hiccups known ??

      2) I'm in Austria and would prefer a German language UI. Would your "Language" Pack from LAST YEAR allow me to modify this 2023 XÜ Integral Edition installation as well or would a modified LangPack be required ?

      kind regards
      Maxx from Austria

@Maxx If a backported NVMe Drive works or how stable it is, all depends on your computer hardware.
And the WinXP-IE language pack works on any Windows XP SP3. A Windows language pack wont change any *.dll or *.sys files. They it only adds *.mui files next to the existing *.mul files.

@Ramsey Many thanks again. Installed the Language Pack from last year and it's working as you suggested. Interesting, according to Web sources, relatively "recent" versions of popular standard software suites should be able to run on this Platform, for example MS Office 2007, MS Office 2010, Acrobat Pro XI and many others. Even found a proper Antivirus program Malwarebytes offers a Version (3.5...) that can still run on XP.

Tomorrow I'll try to add an NVMe disc via a PCIe 3.0 to M.2 (NVMe) Adapter.

      best to you

      @Ramsey
Hmmm ... the OS works smoothly, all Apps installed without issues.

The only problem is that I can't get an NVMe running. After installing the OS on a SATA3 SSD, I put a KC2500 on a PCI/NVMe converter card in a free PCIe Slot of my Dell T1650. I copied the storport.sys and Ntkrn8.sys from the MISC folder of the "Patch integrator" and then attempted to install the Kai Schtrom 1.5 driver (x86) - doesn't work. The device (KC2500) is recognized but the NVMe driver won't start (yellow exclamation mark with Error Code 10 in Device Manager). Changing the driver from Kai Schtrom 1.5 to 1.3 to Silicon Motion 10.4.4.9 NVMe driver doesn't help either. Using another SSD (Goodram IRDM, Phison based) doesn't help either.

Any idea why I can't get it to work ? Would I have t add/replace more files apart from Storport.sys and Ntoskrn8.sys ?? The NVMe driver service simply won't start.

      kind regards

For SSD TRIMming there seems to be a tool that works on nearly all machines. Adata ssd toolbox 2.0.

The Adata tool automatically sets your system and can be deinstalled afterwards. The loading speed of my system is about 100% faster after having applied it.
