any idea why SDIO & Driver Booster are unable to install any device driver (they fail) & how to overcome, troubleshoot this issue?
    • This commment is unpublished.
@acoul I think you have to ask them why they don't work. I recommended in the ReadMe file the tools Snappy Driver Installer and DriverPack Solution.

      @Ramsey
thank you Ramsey. I did search about this very strange problem of failing to install drivers & their updates. both cases, for SDIO & Driver Booster , they suggest to check the HDD/SSD media health for errors. they also suggest to delete the downloaded drivers and start a clean vanilla driver update process. I had no luck with the above.

trying to do an sfc /scannow I got an 0x000006ba RPC Server is unavailable. I did unlock it (bad idea) according to the guidance of the netland: https://www.winhelponline.com/blog/fix-sfc-error-0x000006ba-rpc-unavailable/

but then I got an error saying that the system files have been altered (I guess Integral magic here) and restoring the original XP SP3 files may cause issues. Here is a picture of this issue: https://ufile.io/2hw3xpuk

@acoul The SFC is turned off by default in WinXP-IE. You have a tool at the "Start Menu -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Windows File Protection.cmd" to turn SFC on again and to run the SFC Scan.

And if you run an SFC Scan then you should insert the WinXP-IE ISO or else you will get errors, because some outdated and unneeded components were removed from WinXP-IE.

I'm also suggesting you search for the driver by hand, because this tools are not always working like they should. And like i said if you use this kind of tools then use the ones suggested in the ReadMe file and in the previous comment.

      @Ramsey
Drivers are essential Ramsey indeed. trying to find drivers by hand is not an easy task now days, especially for XP. My experience with DriverPack Solution, url link does not work for me, front end is not pleasant as also described on the video presentation over at majorgeeks. if I am not mistaken, Snappy Driver Installer is also based on the DriverPack packages.

when DriverPack packages can't find a driver, it's good to have an alternative. that's why I use Driver Booster.

Searching at the Snappy Driver Installer site I found SamDrivers. Snappy Driver Installer last changelog entry is back in 2017. I use Snappy Driver Installer Origin, that is regularly maintained from the author of the original code. any feedback on this is always welcomed

On a fresh install, Legacy Update found & installed a security update kb963096 (I could not find any further info for this patch). 360 total security offers two additional security patches, kb2229593 https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/ScopedViewInline.aspx?updateid=c86b1cc2-268b-48a6-b2f9-0a6dca0116cb & kb2660649 https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/ScopedViewInline.aspx?updateid=8a5a7015-b776-4586-854b-65cf08586996

may I ask 1). why these patches are missing from the integral edition & 2). if it's ok to install them ?

    Many Thanks @Ramsey and @Kaspers!
No ACPI patch is not an option since it's a Skylake (Z170) install...
Anyway, seeing that you were able to install Version 2.0.0.0 properly, i tried it  and it installed well here too.
I however tried to install age-old version 1.15 (from 1999) for which i have a license key and unfortunately the developer isn't accessible any more...

But now i luckyly discoverd that a slightly newer Version  1.6.1  (from around 2000) works also nicely, and it' usable, shareware.
Even better: the shellpicture.dll of that version fits to my old version 1.15 - isn't that a nice fortune??

@Kaspars: Shell Picture is about only 1 MB, and it does the job of SageThumbs and JPEGview in one and is lightning fast. For me it's usability is unmatched an a real MUST HAVE for every XP-installation.

I can only repeat my offer @Ramsey: Send me a pm; this gem belongs into your next version of the integral edition! (an upload of the installer.exe  here directly in a post seems to be prohibited!?)

    Hello Ramsey,
i've got an issue here after installing XP with a patched version (for Z170 machine) concernimg an extremely useful, versatile and neat Software which i had on every XP system so far without any problem: Shell Picture (BAxBEx) - see snapshot below.
After installation, the program icon is properly in the tray, but on activating it (right-click on any image) it does NOT extend the explorer's context menu - nothing happens.
Now i discovered, that registering it's main ShellPicture.dll (in ..\system32) with regsrv32 fails, something like "... access to invalid memory area" is reported.
    Can you eventually help here?
Please feel free to ask me for a copy of this ingenious piece of software in a pm.
    Thank you!

    Hi Ramsey
What do I do to sign the security catalog file?
for the signature to work under Windows
I'm working with UpdatePacks x64 in Japanese.
My friends in Discord asked me to edit to their language.
Some important old renovations are missing them.
Microsoft deleted it and I had to edit the text box.
I'm worried about the SFC problem.

@MilkChan Checkout the file "Certificate Creator.cmd" in the Patch Integrator folder ".\Utilities\Signing Tools" it will do everything you need.

@Ramsey I don't think it will work. I wrote similar "Signer" tookit to sign files for XP2ESD. Only issue exist on 5.2 x86 / x64 - drivers are still marked as unsigned. Even CAT / SYS have in their properties correct digital signature.
On XP, Vista, 7, 8.0, 8.1, 10 are these signatures valid without issues.

I will try in future Canonkongs method on 5.2. But I think it will end in same resul. 5.2 system have something that I can't catch to show drivers as digitally signed.

@George King I never played around with NT5.2, but that's a weird problem. Did you try to sign the file with SHA1 instead of SHA2?

@Ramsey Only SHA1 without timestamp for 5.x to be sure. I have discussed same thing with Fernando. His certificate si broken and always mark drivers as unsigned. He got my Signer toolkit and started resigning them with correct ones to fix everything except 5.2.

@Ramsey, If you PM me on MDL, I can send you more detailed info.

i believe you should also integrate Serpent Browser, it's a good one and it gets frequently updated

@Ricardo Jose If you tested a lot of different browsers, perhaps you can recommend one that respects user privacy?
It's ok for me if antiprivacy sites doesn't work. Bad sites (and cloudflare backbone) are often designed to fail those browsers with a note to switch to "modern" browsers.
Among regular browsers OtterBrowser and TOR is best at user privacy but TOR isn't backported.
Snakeoil-browsers BRAVE, Iron and anything based on Chrome or Mozilla is not even close.
