    still no TRIM for XP?
    • This commment is unpublished.
@Anonymous I was wondering, though, if there was any, any piece of software that works under XP that allows me to TRIM the drive in the OS. I want to extract the max performance and life out of the SSD, and so, TRIM-ing the drive regularly is the key to that. So far, it's looking like there might not be any such software out there.

      @Partizan See link above (ssdtool.exe).

Without TRIM you have to create a partition on the SSD hard drive, the size of which is 10-15 percent below the maximum available storage space. Then only use this partition. In this way you set up a "buffer" so that the SSD controller can access an empty area in almost all cases. With this workaround, you can avoid the loss of speed relatively efficiently - but at the expense of the available storage space, which is expensive with SSD hard drives.

@Anonymous The use of ssdtool.exe gives profit? How to measure it?
    • This commment is unpublished.
@Partizan For Windows 32 bit with SSD, you can try "ADATA SSD Toolbox version 2.0.1". Use this specific version, NOT an updated one. For details, download and also one or two useful tricks about Windows XP and trimming, take a look at:

2 Ramsey: I have problems with "WinXP-IE Optional Patch Integrator v2.3.4b13".
This version is not installed on USB XHCI (VEN_8086&DEV_A12F).
Driver requires usbport.sys. There is no such file on my OS.
Additionally, I observe a problem with the Russian font in the device manager.
But "Generic USB 3.0 xHCI driver v1.1" from May 24th worked fine.

@jorg87 The usbport.sys file is on the Windows XP ISO/Disc. Point it to the I386 folder.

@Ramsey I added the usbport.sys, USB driver was installed, but the driver didn't work! Error 39, in addition, there were problems with the russian fonts on the Russian system. See screenshot - https://i.ibb.co/XWnpChQ/1.png

Although in older versions (WinXP-IE Optional Patch Integrator v2.3.3b18 and older), the Generic USB driver did just fine without usbport.sys file. For several versions in a row, we have a completely non-working Microsoft USB 3.0 driver. I don't understand why people don't write about this...

The usbport.sys file is need for some USB devices.

If you remove the Language entries from the USB3 ' *.inf' files do you then still get this error?

And for the Microsoft USB3 driver to work you need to manual put the 'ntoskrn8.sys' file into the 'C:\WINDOWS\system\drivers' folder.

I'm trying to install this on an AXP 2200+ (no SSE2) and it hangs on "Registers components" during installation. Is this a problem caused by the SSE2 updates not being supported? How do I remove them?
    • This commment is unpublished.
@space Yes exactly this is the problem. Use the included Optional Patch Integrator script to remove the SSE2 updates.

@Ramsey Where is the script located? It's not in the SSE2 Updates Rollback folder.

This are not native Themes and have extra *.exe files that need more CPU resources.
The best site to find native WinXP Themes is here: https://www.deviantart.com/search?q=XP%20Theme

Downloaded this to install via Parallels on OSX. Had issues initially with the WinXPPx86IE - setup file not being found on drive during install. Setup still completed as normal and I ran the WinXPPx86IE - setup file manually by coping the ISO files across to the XP desktop from my Mac. Once that was done, it installed all the default adjustments and everything seemed fine. Shutdown the virtual drive, then booted XP back up and I get the following on the login screen - "Win XP is looking for C:\WINDOWS\system32\wlnotify.dll...".

This hangs for about 5-10 minutes before a popup says "Administrator account has been disabled". I click "okay" and it displays the Admin user login. I click on this and it loads me to the desktop as it should do.

Am I doing something wrong? This seems rather impractical to have such a cumbersome and delayed login situation. Any help would be appreciated.

@Ramsey Done a bit of thinking today. I fixed the first issue of not getting the RunOnce prompt to work during install, I had to open the virtual machine settings for the XP install and mount the ISO manually under the CD/DVD option.

The wlnotify.dll issue still remains at login. However, if I stop using my mac once I hit the hang up and allow the XP screensaver to kick in, once I move mouse I get the "Administrator account disabled" prompt and can proceed to access the desktop.

Further to this. During a fresh install, I unselected the "Windows XP tweaks" option in the RunOnce prompt and installed the rest of the default selected. Low and behold, it logs me right into the desktop instantly. I did a manual restart and it logged me straight to the desktop once more. Seems the issue is triggered by one of the tweaks being made under the "Windows XP tweaks" option in RunOnce in relation to login/shutdown.

@xnullx The default Administrator gets disabled to avoid Guest access to you shared folders form the internet. But you should have a second Administrator account called "Admin". Did you done a fresh installation by formatting the Hard disk driver before reinstalling?
Also try this CMD command NET USER "Administrator" /active:no and see if you get the same problem.

@Ramsey Command Prompt command didn't work.

Every install has been done on a fresh virtual machine setup with Parallels, so it automatically "formats" the drive before XP install takes place.

Here's a visual rundown (in order) of what happens when I boot XP up in Parallels (or do a shutdown/restart).

XP boots up, shows the black Windows XP loading screen, and proceeds to take me to the login section where I immediately get this - https://imgur.com/b3unpLO

System hangs at this stage indefinitely if I continue to use my MacBook. However, as mentioned before. If I stop using it and allow for the XP screensaver to kick in, then I'll get to here once moving mouse to clear the screensaver - https://imgur.com/dTwtLvC

I press "ok" and then am presented with the user login screen that shows the "Admin" account to select. As shown here - https://imgur.com/jOkVDWn

Once I click on the "Admin" account, I am logged in and taken to the XP desktop as intended. No further issue.

This whole process happens every time I either boot XP from fresh or manually shutdown/restart.

The only way I've managed to bypass the entire problem has been by installing XP Integral Edition and deselecting the "Windows XP tweaks" option during the RunOnce prompt. So there is some sort of tweak in this modded option that is causing a problem during the login stage.

Hope that sort of helps piece things together a bit more and adds some clarity of exactly what I see.

@xnullx I think Parallels Desktop for Mac is changing some Windows XP settings and causes a conflict with the Tweak option below that disables the default Administrator account to avoid Guest access to you shared folders form the internet. Windows Vista/7/8/10 have also disable this default Administrator account by default.

      File in Disc/ISO folder "..\OEM\RunOnce\Settings\Windows XP - System Settings.cmd"
      NET USER "Administrator" /active:no

Seems that Microsoft has took down update servers for Windows XP.
We still have the update catalog though.
