@AAA You installed something extra after the OS installation?
Check eventvwr for any relevant log entries (Not related to XPIE, but this way i backtraced which shell extension was causing an explorer crash each time i right-clicked a file that was over ~200 character long.)

Just a heads-up for those tinkering with installing XPIE on a virtual NVMe drive in VMware Workstation (16.2, at least) - integrating the MovAX-Gen2 NVMe driver will make the text-mode 1st-stage setup stuck on the "Setup is loading Windows" stage indefinitely. Haven't tested other NVMe drivers, but still.
Regardless, the customized ISO (options 1,3,4,5,7) seem to work nicely in a VM. Good to know this homebrew is still developed.

EDIT: yups, the VMware NVMe device seems to be allergic to any NVMe driver backported to XP, causing a softlock when installing either of the drivers. not sure if changing the VM profile to anything newer than XP would help, still.

Only one problem with the KB4494528 is know to me, which was manually fixed in WinXP-IE. The description also doesn't say what the problems are. But I noticed that some register keys are missing this WinXP.

@Ramsey facing issue with Audio driver.

I own Dell Inspiron 6400 series laptop (from 2008) and audio worked until last build but, same driver gives error with December build.

Laptop has Sigmatel Audio Controller, tried using official driver from Dell website, iobit driver booster and also Driverpack, but none of them helped :(

@Hesoyam Nothing related to audio has changed in the December build.

@Hesoyam Had a similar issue with my Dell latitude D630. Turns out that the audio driver was incorrectly installed and showed up as a generic pci driver under system devices in the device manager. Try uninstalling the generic driver and then install the audio driver again using the executable.

@Ramsey Okay thanks, I thought it was related to "Universal_Audio_Architecture_High_Definition_Audio_AddOn" which was mentioned by @TelLal some 2-3 days back and so, wanted to confirm as I never faced this error before on your WinXP builds (tried with Vanilla and IE both)

      @An_Exotic_Bird Thanks @An_Exotic_Bird

I didn't understand why It was recognized it as a PCI device but uninstalling it and then installing official driver from Dell solved the issue!

A bit late now, but something to include for the next IE release - XP, 10 and 11 too - is voidtools Everything.

It's the best search tool I've ever used ever since Windows search broke years ago.

@infuscomus I also don't like Chrome but at least this 360EE version is Ungoggled. And I also only have space in the 700MB ISO for one browser.

please add "Universal_Audio_Architecture_High_Definition_Audio_AddOn" which is tricky to install on xp sp3.
    https://ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7184&start=300
    Link to the addon:
    https://www.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=1386361

Fix for installing audio driver issue due to missing UAA:
Method 1-Open Regedit and go to :
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows\
Double-click CDSVersion and change it to 200, then restart your system.
    Install kb888111xp2.exe
    https://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOUND-CARD/OTHER-SOUNDCARDS/Microsoft-UAA-Bus-Driver-for-High-Definition-Audio.shtml
    Install your audio driver
    Change CSDVersion back to 300
    Restart your system
        Method 2-download the UAA hotfix for sp3;
    https://mega.nz/file/bQhChJQI#Pnkj5eh8nn5cStyXLLuuHBdHs59ikbfoagyO-Xa_qRk
extract the hotfix and then find "pci" in device manager
right-click the pci and update driver
select "install from the list" -> "have disk" and point to the folder.
    Install your audio driver

@TelLal But the UAA hotfix (hdaudbus.*) files are already in WinXP-IE.

@Ramsey I had "missing hda bus" error. Are you sure the files in WinXP-IE are from the UAA sp3 addon?
      Because I couldn't find the "hdaudio.sys" in WinXP-IE.

@TelLal The "hdaudio.*" (Non Bus driver) files are not needed for a Sound driver to work. Try to reinstall the HD Bus driver in the Device Meager, that should fix the problem according to some user posts.

      Quote from your Post link.
XP users using Realtek HD audio should just install those drivers directly and not bother installing KB888111. The old & new Realtek HD audio driver packages for XP should install correctly, even on XP SP3.
