Hello everyone. I could use some help, if anybody can help me. I've installed this Windows XP on my old IBM R40 and I have some strange driver issues. Device manager reports missing these drivers:
    1. Multimedia audio controller - i cant play mp3 files
    2. Network controller
    3. PCI modem
    4. Some unknown device
    5. Video controller (VGA compatible)
I've downloaded and installed all of these drivers from Lenovo's website and nothing is changed. I use some legacy software from XP era, and I need this to work. Can anyone help me? Thank you :)

@ugljessa It looks like you using the wrong drivers, try out the DriverPack Solution tool.

@Ramsey Thank you. I've managed to install ATI and WLAN. Still no sound dough. Should try some older versions of multimedia audio controller?

Try you luck with this Realtek HD Audio driver v5.10.0.7514.

@Ramsey Nope. Still nothing. I started to mess around with chipset drivers, installed so many different versions so far and still no audio. At least I left with two out of five items from my list to install, PCI modem and audio. Everything else is installed. There is no more unknown device from the list. I don't know what happened there. I guess I installed proper driver at some point. Now i restarted Driver Pack and it offered to reinstall chipset drivers to previous versions (?) I guess something will come up. Thank you very much for your help. I will post my progress here whatever happens at the end. Feel free to suggest some more ideas :)
Greetings from Belgrade. Pomaže Bog :)

@Fisherman Unfortunately I saw your reply a bit too late :(
I already formatted that hard drive and now I'm installing another XP build I found. The thing is, I've managed to install everything from the list except freaking audio. Even the Driver Pack stuck on audio. I left it overnight and nothing happened. Its like its cursed or something :D
This is amazing work, everything is working perfectly except, in my case audio. I must say that audio did work on previous OS, Lubuntu, so its not a hardware thing.
Thank you all so so much for your help and support, I really appreciate it :)

    Hi guys,
1st of all, thank you for the hard work! this stuff is awesome!

i have a dell xps13 9370 and need to have windows xp on it. i managed to get the win xp installation to boot and it sees my m.2 drive. i used options 1,2,3,4,5,7,A,B,C,E. now when the system reboots in the middle of the installation it will briefly show win xp logo booting which is good but than it will give the A5 error. i tried to re-install and hit F7 but if i do that the system hangs and freezes at the very next page of the install. any ideas on how to proceed?

I encountered a similar problem on my TRX40 designare - I think the issue is ACPI related.

The best solution I've found to date is to use a separate PCI-E USB3 card as these will work consistently in XP by not being tied to the motherboards ACPI tables.

For some reason XP initiated the repair disk feature on every boot up for both C and D drives.  I solved this by doing below:

Open command prompt by typing cmd in the Run box.
Put in the below commands and press Enter!

    chkntfs /x D:
    chkntfs /x C:

@Jacko Replace ntfs with fat32 for other format

      @Jacko
      I wouldn't recommend this
fat32 has no file system security and has a 4GB file size limit.

@infuscomus Totally right mate, just put other option in for those who might have it. NTFS is the way to go.
