Heard about this project years ago but I installed XP & updated with legacyupdate.net which is an amazing site! However it seems this version has many more enhancements & should be used instead of a stock iso, so doing that now.

But then! I see that for donations XMR is accepted & is the only one listed!! Well I gotta donate now!

Thank you for continuing to bring life to this fantastic operating system & supporting financial privacy, you have lifted my mood!

@Grissa It all depends on what programs you use and how many of them are open at the same time. You can always try to increase the size of the Windows paging file to offload some things from your RAM.

Hey, I tried to install Windows XP on my HP laptop. And it always stuck at this setup page. Any ideas about this error? Appreciate for your help. I was using options 1,2,3,5,A,B,C,F

@Lam Only add the things you really need and do it one by one, then you will see what option is causing this problem.

Hey, got a strange problem that seems to have some kind of pattern, and I'd like to know if someone here might recognize what's going on: I've got XP IE installed with Panda Dome and Microsoft Security Essentials (from Legacy Update) and they don't have any observable conflicts on my system. They both worked fine, until I installed some games - one of them (likely either Battlefield 2 or Crysis) must have installed an old version of a file/files, because Panda refuses to open now with no error and MSE throws error code 0x80070003 (usually a problem of windows update). Not to mention, normal startup takes forever and a soft shutdown is impossible, forcing me to press the power button; both of these were very quick to work beforehand. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

    Update:
MSE now errors out with code 0x80000003, instead. Also, I noticed Windows File Protection.cmd hangs on the custom title line (no menu) when run from the local drive - but works after 1 or 2 tries when run from the copy on my usb install drive. Process Hacker reveals that it hangs on a 'findstr' command that runs right after start.

@John Doe I think it's clear that someone has messed up your Windows XP. Reinstall and keep track on when this problem pops up. You can also try the Restore option or Repair options.

John Doe · 9 months ago
@Ramsey Well, I've been the only one to use this system and to my knowledge, none of my game installers contain trojans or other malware. I can tell you that I'm quite certain one of three game installers created this problem: BF2, CSS, or Crysis. If I were to do a repair install (where programs/data are supposed to be maintained), do you think it'd be a better idea to try it now and see if it works (other game installs might reintroduce the problem, requiring me to do it again), or install the other games first and then do a repair install at the end - maybe mitigating all of possible issues in one go? I'll have my current machine state backed up either way, ofc.

      Ramsey · 9 months ago
@John Doe If it's a game then I support the copy protection of the game that is causing this problem.
If you reinstall then install all programs and games step by step and see when this problem occurs. After that you can google why XYZ game or program is causing this problem.

John Doe · 9 months ago
@Ramsey That makes sense. What I think I'll do is reinstall everything up to the games, and then back up the whole system @ that point using Clonezilla. Then, I'll have a 'last resort' backup in case System Restore doesn't work when that problem happens, and I shouldn't have to reinstall everything again.

how do i donwload this to usb drive
    • This commment is unpublished.
John Doe · 9 months ago
@muhamed You mean how do you make a usb boot drive with it? Use an app called "WinSetupFromUSB", it'll get a usb drive ready to use an XP image. If you mean just downloading the image to a usb drive, you do it just like every other download in a browser.

    @Ramsey
Hello, thanks a lot for your work!
    I'm having 2 issues.
The first is that the installation halts at the Registering components section, in the Performing Final Tasks screen, exactly after the cmd script of the MOF compiler says it's storing data in the repository. The mouse can still move around and relocate the window, but I've waited for ages and the installation bar never goes more than 1/3 of 100%.
I have slipstreamed the bootdisk drivers for the sata controller to the iso, but still didn't fix the issue. Also i have disabled all components from bios like firewire/audio/lan etc.
Can this MOF compiler be removed from the iso? Or do you have any clue why its hanging there?
Scratch that, it just took more than ages to get past that...like 2 hours.
The second is that in the ReadMe file it states that inside OEM folder there should be a DriverPacks BASE - REMOVER script, that is nowhere to be found. Can you provide it please?

Btw I'm trying to install to an Athlon XP system without SSE2 support.

    Thanks!

      Ramsey · 9 months ago
@jiml I forgot to edit that part of the ReadMe file, because the DriverPacks BASE Remover script was moved into the "Patch Integrator" script. 🙄

And if you want to install it on a CPU without SSE2 support then you have to also select the option to remove the SSE2 updates.

@Dimitar Kirilov Half of the stuff that is included in WinXP-IE doesn't even exist for a Widnows XP x64, and anyone that needs a x64 system should better move to another operating system.

@Ramsey I found it interesting none of the web sites were willing to delete yor stuff in in any consistent way like 'flagging' U as a 'copyright violator', & Micro$oft doesn't seem 2 care either, so it would seem people R unlikely 2 encounter problems if they download yor 'torrent stuff' with upload 'seeding' disabled, but U can never be sure I guess =;-o  How much money do you want to make a fully functional Oracle VirtualBox VDMK of Windows 10 'Integral' with fast functional tear free video browsing on your XP 'Integral' without audio or networking problems? =)  I currently run a VirtualBox of Windows 7 64 bit within yor XP 32 (CPU is 64 so OK) but it's not software 'compatible with everything' =(  U can reach me at 'zhottest at hotmail dot com'.

@SuperTips You such a NutJob. What copyright violator? Win10/11-IE is done with the free available DISM tool from Microsoft for creating a deployment Windows. As long as it's not pre-cracked it's totally legal.

I've made a lot of modifications to the 'Integral' XP to improve it and would like to create an installer that includes those features, like for example some fancy custom theming & media related setups for better performance =)  If you ('Ramsey') or anybody else here knows how to 'reverse save' that sort of stuff to an 'installer' type format please let me know & I can upload a backup of my boot partition where you can gather up all the changed bits you need to make it the same when installing to different machines =)  I can be reached at 'zhottest at hotmail dot com' & can pay you if needed.  I can then upload it to archive.org to help people out if Ramsey doesn't want to host it here on the 'Zone94' site.  Either way I can upload a backup of the boot partition so others can (eventually) do that somehow, maybe as a virtual machine to run on Nomad BSD also? =)

@Super Tips * Most of this info is already written in the ReadMe file.
      1. The settings files in the ".\OEM\RunOnce" folder can be edited with a text Editor to add or remove settings.
      2. Almost every installer has a auto installation command, for example "/s" or "/qb" and "/?" for more infos.
      3. With the tools RegistryChangesView and FolderChangesView you can compare what files or registry entries are being changed on you computer to track the program settings.
      4. After you done you, can use the tool nLite to create a new ISO.

      * This WInXP-IE is build so that it can be easily customized by anyone that knows a bit about DOS.

      @Ramsey
I will look into those tools & try to learn them, but in the mean time instead of waiting another few years to do what I want because it will take about that long to make that kind of stuff actually work for me (because nothing in software ever works the way it is supposed to & most of our time is wasted learning how to overcome bugs in things) I would much rather simply send somebody a backup of my boot partition & they can 'reverse engineer' the installer in a similar way by comparing my installation to the default version.  I can pay for this if needed.  Anybody interested can reach me at 'zhottest at hotmail dot com'. I would then post it to archive.org so everybody can explore the 'Ultra Enhanced Integral' version =D

What you are suggesting is like saying 'If you want to run a virtual machine it's really very easy! =)  You can just download Oracle 'Virtual Box' & install & run whatever OS you like!" =D  & sure, that is certainly the 'idea' of how it 'should' work, but here in REALITY it NEVER is that simple & in fact it is very rare that everything 'just works', & usually you only end up with something full of bugs that is not an acceptable solution.  All I want is for the final install to have the same 'program arrangement & settings'.  The 'Operating System' itself is essentially the same, so shouldn't be too hard, for a 'programmer' kind of person, which I am not.  You have been refining your 'Integral' thing for many years so naturally it SEEMS 'simple' to YOU =))

I am reminded of watching Linux videos on Youtube, & then I try install their favorites & it turns out everything in their videos they say about it being easy to use & a legitimate alternative to Windows is all lies.  They are just 'trolling' us =P  Speaking of that, the whole 'Nomad BSD with bare metal hypervisors running Ramsey Windows XP & 10 Integral versions with hardware passthrough' would be so very 'ultimate' yes? =)  I would happily pay $1,000 for THAT!  Then I can just back it up & use it 'wherever' & forever because the 'Nomad' OS is not locked to any machine =D  I would configure the 'VM' with all the cool 'apps' & stuff & not have to worry about having to 're-install' ever again! =)  I'm sure there are LOTS of people like me happy to pay a large amount for something so flexible.  You could easily make millions of dollars from it.

People could buy your 'Nomad BSD Integral Configurator' (because BSD license is not anti-sales at all) & then people can download the various Integral virtual machines from archive.org, all ready to go = just copy over the 'VM' file thing into the 'container' there.  You could call it whatever you want & doesn't have to be 'associated' with you, same way there are lots of other 'VMs' on there.  For example, rather than trying to install the 'Zyzoom / Xpristo' windows 7 into Oracle 'Virtual Box', I save the time & frustration by just downloading one from archive.org that is ready to go, & it works fine, running Windows 7 64 bit inside of 32 bit Windows XP = very interesting! =)

@Super Tips If your can't use DOS then your not qualified to post on what you call the best and greatest programs to include.
And for 1000$ you get people on freelancer.com that wold do what you want.

Bug report and solution request: After opening the 'Start Menu' on the 'Task Bar', whether in regular or 'Classic' mode (doesn't make a difference) & right clicking on the 'All Programs' folder or any of the sub folders within it, none of the 'Open' or 'Explore' options work, including 'Open All Users' & 'Explorer All Users' as those additional options sometimes appear depending on the folder.  A much older version of the 'Integral' XP from this site did not have that problem.  Please tell us how to fix this =)  One of the main reasons for using XP is the convenient & flexible management of the 'Start' interface & it's contents.

If this can't be resolved I will need to go back to the older version(s), the most recent of which I've used is from more than a dozen years ago.  It would also be helpful if you uploaded every version of the 'Integral' XP so we can choose the best one, since some other features may also be broken.  Like anybody who is a fan of Windows XP, we all realize that 'newer does not mean better', so I would not be surprised if a very old version, maybe from 20 years ago or something is better than the current one available here.  If you could make older ones available it could also bring more people to this web site out of curiosity to try more of them out to choose their favorites =)  Please let me know if you fix any of these things & where to get older versions by mailing me a note at 'zhottest at hotmail dot com'.

BTW: A partial alternative but far from ideal is to create a folder within the 'Quick Launch' area near the 'Start' menu button & make sure it is hidden within the 'drop down arrow' area, so when hovering it there the 'Open' & 'Explore' options do again work, but this should be fixed within the 'Start' menu itself as well.

@SuperTips Looks like this problem happens if the MPC-BE option "Formats -> Explorer Context Menu -> Directory" is enbaled or if the registry value "ShowDir" is not set to "0" when running the batch command "/regall, regvid, regaud, regpl".
To manually fix this problem simply go into the MPC-BE option menu and then click on Formats and select or deselect a File extension and then click on Apply.

@Ramsey You fixed it! =)  Thanks! =D  Unfortunate Media Player Classic has bugs like that, but nothing is perfect.  I've found way better performance is possible as an 'all in one' option using Daum Pot Player with certain settings.  I would like to make a customized version & sell it somehow = the 'settings for maximum performance' I guess, but an important related feature that is not working on the 'Integral' XP is also support for Voicemeeter Potato & Virtual Audio Cable.  There is official support for it & plastered all over their site that it works on XP but I am not a big computer genius like you, so maybe you can tell us what to do?  It's a great setup for making speakers & videos sound a lot better and free to download & use from here ~>

It seems to be some kind of 'emulated APO' type thing where it is creating a 'virtual patch bay' by constantly running code to pretend, or at least that is my guess, as just sitting around it eats a fair amount of CPU, but not 2 much.  I'm thinking maybe that's also what they are doing in Thorium web browser, because it really takes a long time to start & stuff on XP without a lot of ram or CPU, but on the same machine when booting from 7 it's very fast =)  Either way once it is actually 'working' it's great for browsing Youtube, even blocking ads!  Maybe you could roll in a 'virtual box' virtual machine of Windows 7 as an 'extra' for your XP integral so we can run things like Thorium on their 'native' platform?  I've tried before and can run 64 bit operating systems through it within XP so long as the CPU supports it, but I'm not a network configuration type expert so can't figure out how to get the sound & web connection working =(

So in summary, a few things:
... Can you get Voicemeeter Potato & Voicemeeter Virtual Audio Cable running on XP for us?  Or tell us how?
... How about adding a virtual machine of 7 for us?  Maybe post it online so we can download a 'pre configured Windows 7 for web surfing videos on 'modern' browsers with their 'native' operating system =)
Note: I think these features would be great things to add to the 'Integral' releases in the future =)  Maybe also a virtual machine of Windows 10 to run within XP the same way, so we can use modern software.  It will work, but without 'fancy computer technical experts' like you we are not able to make things like sound without stuttering and so on.  They can be offered on the side as 'bonus items' = your Windows 10 Integral in the form of a 'Virtual Box Virtual Machine' with fully working audio & video so we can run it from XP.  I would pay for that if somebody wanted to sell it, because I really prefer the layout & flexibility of XP.  For example, everything after doesn't even let you create a global file manager layout, but instead constantly fights against you trying to force space wasting things like thumbnail view & others, & the tools that supposedly fix that & other flaws don't really work, & create other problems =(  Maybe let me know if you offer the VMs & Voicemeeter fixes at 'zhottest at hotmail dot com'.

@Super Tips PotPlayer was replaced by MPC-BE in WinXP-IE a long time ago for a reason, and not because it's uses less resources.
And this comment section is the wrong place to ask for any Windows XP coding modifications, for that you should go to this forums:

With the latest version 2024.6.6 I cannot get the Integrator script to work properly. No matter what I do it ends up spitting out error messages about not being able to locate the required files. Am I missing something? Older versions (2023) has worked fine but I couldn't find those for download.

Please fix this or explain if I'm doing something wrong?
Running the script under Windows 10 with an admin command prompt...

Ramsey thank you so much for your reply.
Just so I understand this correctly I thought that the Integrator script could be run under Windows 7/8.1/10/11 to create a modified ISO with SATA drivers etc for installing XP on newer hardware....

You are saying the script should ONLY be used on a computer (or virtual machine) running Windows XP? I will try doing a vanilla install of XP in a virtual machine here and running the script there .....

      EDIT:
I did try now running the Patch Integrator 4.0.3 from within XP, but still getting the exact same error messages about not being able to locate the files required etc. as I did before when trying to create a modified ISO under Windows 10.... is there something I'm missing here??

I thought you were talking about the RunOnce Script. I tested the latest Patch Integrator script on Windows 10 x86 and Windows 11 x64 and I didn't run into any problems.

I hope you extracted the folder from the ZIP-Archive file before running the script.

I definitely did extract the folder from the ZIP archive before running the Patch Integrator Script.

I pasted the output for you to look at here: https://hastebin.com/share/uguloqeliy.sql
I have tried this now both on Windows 10 Swedish and Windows 10 U.S English version.

@BigFan Try to extracte the folder to the "C:\" directory, it could be that you reached the maximum path length for a Batch file.

      @Ramsey
The run where I pasted the output I extracted the folder to Y:\ root.

      Y:\Windows XP Professional SP3 x86 - Integral Edition 2024.6.6\Patch Integrator v4.0.3\

I also tried using an account with no spaces in the name. Did another run where I shortened the path to Y:\WXPI\PI403\ but still get the same errors as in the paste I did before. I know I HAVE done this integration with older versions of WinXP Integral (from 2021-2022?)....

Ramsey before I forget I want to say thank you for this Windows XP project that you keep working on. I didn't say at first but just want you to know how much I appreciate it. It's a wonderful almost magical thing. :-)
